 Hi  All,
Last  weekend  i  got  a  chance  to  lay  hands  on  some  fresh  cultured  daphnia,  at  a  friends  farm.
I  collected  them  in  a  Pearl  Pet  jar  (which  i  have  to  remember  to  return)  and  brought  them  home  to  feed  to  my  Congo  tetras.
 Males  about  4  inches  and
 females  about  3  inches
I  have  about  25  of  them  in  all.

Came  home  and  poured  the  jar  into  the  Congo  tank,  there  could  have  been  atleast  10000  daphnia.

Before  I  could  say  Jack  ----  the  daphnia  was  gone,  Kalas,  Finito.

Now  was  the  fun  part,  the  males  started  showing  off  their  color  too  each  other  with  fins  spread  open.
This  was  the  first  time  i  had  seen  congos  do  this,  and  trust  me  guys  it  was  amazing  to  watch,  the  way  the  males  swam  alongside  each  other  with  great  finesse  and  grace  like  a  beautiful  Bale  dancer.

The  whole  male  dance  went  on  for  almost  an  hour.I  am  sure  going  to  do  this  more  often  just  for  the  pleasure  of  watching  these  wonderful  fish  do  their  dance.

I  did  take  a  few  pics  and  will  post  them  soon.

It  feels  great  to  be  part  of  this  hobby  as  it  is  a  great  opportunity  to  see  the  wonders  of  nature.

Again  Thanks  to  the  Beauty  Of  Daphnia.

 Rgds

My  congos  do  their  side-rubbing  activity  every  now  and  then,  some  times  when  I'm  feeding  them  dried  blood-worms  etc.  Like  two  males  swim  very  fast  and  rub  their  sides  against  each  other  while  swimming!  Once  it  was  kind  of  violent  as  one  congos  single  scale  was  seen  ripped  off  which  was  quickly  eaten  by  a  small  rainbowfish!

I'll  try  to  grab  some  Daphnia  to  see  the  dance!

 Hi  all,

Just  out  of  curiosity  I  want  to  know  how  big  the  congos  will  grow,  let  me  rephrase  the  question,  what  is  the  biggest  size  a  congo  can  grow  to  in  Indian  aquarium  conditions?

The  male  congos  are  between  3and  a  half  inches  to  about  4  and  a  quarter  inches.  The  biggest  seem  to  be  the  dominant  male.
The  biggest  female  is  a  little  more  than  3  inches.
They  should  be  about  7-8  months  old  i  have  had  them  for  about  5+  months  now.
They  are  in  a  48x18x18  tank.

 Rgds
