 Hi,

What  do  you  mean  by  unhealthy  ?  Can  you  describe  the  symtoms  ?  Like,  "Leaves  are  transparent",  or  "there  a  pin  holes  in  the  leaves"  ?

I  kind  of  agree  with  Abhi.  Amazons  require  high  iron  and  the  symptoms  are  kind  of  similar  to  iron  deficiency.  But  then  I  am  bit  of  confused  with  a  laterite  substrate  how  is  that  happening.

Amazons  are  heavy  root  feeders  so  liquid  column  fertilization  will  not  be  having  much  effect.

Can  you  please  give  the  following  info:

1>  What  are  the  other  plants?
 2>  Are  they  growing  well?
3>  What  variety  of  Amazon  is  this?
4>  Is  it  a  recent  purchase  and  the  source?  Here  most  amazons  we  get  are  grown  in  ponds  and  they  normally  takes  some  time  to  acclamatize  in  an  aquarium  and  during  that  time  it  is  not  un-natural  of  them  to  produce  small  leaves.  Recently  I  took  out  a  2  year  old  amazon  from  my  tank.  I  am  planning  to  move  it  to  another  tank  but  till  now  I  didnot  get  time  to  do  so  and  I  am  seeing  that  the  new  leaves  are  getting  progressively  smaller

Echinodorus  needs  plenty  of  nitrogen.  If  newer  leaves  are  smaller  than  previous  set  of  leaves,  I  suspect  nitrogen  deficiency.  Increase  kno3.

Are  the  new  leaves  transparent  ?
