near  mysore,  balmuri  or  yedmuri  river  beds  have  some  really  cool  rocks  for  tanks
similar  such  rocks  are  sold  at  wet  pets  on  infantry  road,  but  they  are  a  little  pricey  as  everything  else  in  wetpets,  if  u  are  looking  for  loads  of  rocks,  get  to  yedmuri,  last  time  i  visited  brought  in  nearly  100  kilos  of  rocks  for  various  tanks  of  mine

Go  a  little  far  from  your  city,  you'll  be  able  to  find  various  rocks  lying  around  road  sides,  and  especially  where  there  are  agricultural  fields.

 Hello  Umashankar,

I  remember  seeing  small,  rounded  rocks  on  the  way  to  Vellore  from  here  via  Kolar..  Such  rocks  were  found  near  Kolar..  You  could  try  that  as  well..

 hmmm
 ok
when  you  are  driving  from  bangalore  to  mysore,  you  get  a  right  turn  towards  the  brindavan  gardens  before  you  reach  mysore,  take  that  right  and  keep  going  straight,  do  not  take  any  turn,  after  a  few  kilometers  you  will  reach  a  village  there  you  can  ask  for  the  turn  where  balmuri  comes,  once  u  take  the  right  turn,  u  go  straight  till  u  reach  a  toll  gate  for  balmuri,  there  are  3  roads  after  the  toll  gate,  the  left  takes  you  to  yedmuri(more  shallow  water,  can  catch  more  fish  and  pick  rocks,  with  ease,  no  swift  currents)  keep  going  straight  after  the  taking  the  left  till  u  reach  the  dead  end(u  will  get  to  know  once  u  reach  there)  Smile  ,  if  u  take  the  right  u  go  to  balmuri(deep  water,  more  crowds,  very  difficult  to  catch  anytihng  and  difficult  to  pick  rocks)  (300  mts  from  the  toll  gate)

 Hello  Uma  Shankar
where  and  how  you  are  planning  to  arrange  these  rocks?  will  you  stick  them  with  silicon  or  just  rely  on  the  weight  to  hold  them  in  place..?

whats  the  base  you  have  currently?  sand?

 Hi  Niranjan,

 I  have  sand  for  about  6  inches...my  tabk  size  is  4  x  2...

i  would  not  be  sticking  the  rocks  together,  will  just  arrange  them  so  that  they  dont  fall  due  to  movements  by  fish..

I  already  have  a  setup  with  rocks,  but  the  rocks  are  not  good  looking.   so  thought  of  changing  the  setup  with  good  looking  round  rocks,  not  completely  round,  but  should  have  some  base  to  hold  on....Smile

Another  very  good  collection  point  for  rocks  is  the  Netravathi  River  bed  on  the  way  to  Mangalore.
That  place  is  loaded  with  small  and  large  rounded  rocks.
Careful,  it's  long  long  walk  to  the  rocks  from  the  bank,  and  if  you  foolishly  drive  close  to  the  water  edge  like  me  you'll  get  stranded  in  the  sand  and  loose  pebbles.
Yedimuri  and  Balmuri  falls  are  another  nice  place.
Arkavathi  Sangam  50  km  from  Kanakpura  is  another  good  place.
Bheemeshwari  and  Mutthathi  65  odd  kilometers  from  Kanakpura  are  again  good  places.

The  best  time  to  collect  is  now,  before  the  monsoons,  the  rivers  are  pretty  small.
