My  3  1/2"  flowerhorn  is  unwell  since  last  2-3  days.
I  did  50%WC  on  Sunday.  Due  to  rains  in  Mumbai,  water  was   bit  cold.  Though  I  used  stored  water(from  overhead  tanks),  I  think  it  was  bit  cold.
My  FH  have  sort  of  lost  the  activeness.  Most  of  time  he  sits  at  bottom  or  top  of  tank  corner  without  any  movement.  There  are  tiny  white  spots  all  over  its  body.  Does  show  some  movement  whensomeone  ges  near  tank  but  then  again  becomes  quiet.
His  fins  are  close  to  its  body(unlike  erect  earlier)  and  even  hood  looks  bit  small.
He  is  eating  currently  but  very  slowly  (sort  of  no  enthusiasm  in  having  food)  .

Assuming  it  was  due  to  cold,  I  today  added  heater  with  setting  of  25  degree  C.

Please  advice  what  could  be  deaseas  and  what  should  be  done  for  a  speedy  recovery.

Yes.  Thanks  to  all  help.  Pinku  is  recovering  well.

Just  wanted  to  understand  is  there  any  side  effect  of  this  deases,  will  pinku  regain  back  his  earlier  colour  and  screen  or  will  this  leave  mark  on  him.

Also  can  I  regulalry  put  salt  in  water(even  without  deases).  Is  it  anyway  harmful.

Also  let  me  know  what  temp  in  deg  C  is  best  suitble  for  FH  and  should  I  keep  heater  in  tank  after  FH  recovers  fully  or  remove  it.

Sad  Yes.  I  think  I  clarified  earlier.  I  created  his  id  for  my  wife  who  uses  it  for  WTS  section  (to  get  rid  of  unused  stuff  from  ny  house)

no  side  effects  -  pinku  will  be  back  as  he  was.

Also  can  I  regulalry  put  salt  in  water(even  without  deases).  Is  it  anyway  harmful.

some  people  do  some  do  not,  i  have  tried  putting  it  regularly  during  weekly  water  changes  and  sometimes  did  not....many  of  us  use  the  rock  salt  regularly  during  water  changes..some  lfs  do  that  as  well.

Also  let  me  know  what  temp  in  deg  C  is  best  suitble  for  FH  and  should  I  keep  heater  in  tank  after  FH  recovers  fully  or  remove  it.
below  26  degree  will  be  risky...during  itch  and  other  diseases  29  to  30  degree  will  help....usually  these  white  spots/itch  would  take  couple  of  days  to  go  off  completely  and  yes  fall  in  temperature  of  water  is  99%  the  reason...sometime  due  to  bad  water  quality  also  is  the  reason....FHs  would  give  you  ample  time  to  treat  them  and  recover  if  you  atleast  meet  them  once  in  a  day   Very Happy  I  have  starved  FHs  for  as  long  as  10-15  days  without  any  issues  while  treating  them.

 good  luck   Thumb Up

 Thanks  Binesh.
Mine  is  115  litre  tank.  I  do  50%  WC  once  a  week.  How  much  salt  is  OK  per  WC?

BTW  off  topic.  Saw  your  photo  album.  You  really  have  cool  planted  tank.
In  FH  tank,  in  one  photo  there  were  2  FH.  Did  you  ried  keeping  them  together?

Actually  I  tried  planted  tank  before  FH.  Wish  I  had  succeeded  even  1/3  of  yours

very  little  salt  is  good...say  for  your  tank  3-4  pinches  of  it  would  be  sufficient.
50%  water  change  weekly  might  be  too  much  for  an  FH  tank,  do  about  25-30%  only.
Yes  i  did  keep  a  male  and  female  FH  together  and  succeeded  in  breeding  them....had  3  batch  of  frys  from  them     Thumbs Up

regarding  planted  tank  -  this  is  my  first  attempt  as  well  after  learning  the  basics  here   Smile  its  not  that  tought  i  would  say..

Thanks  Vignesh  and  Binesh.  Pinku  looks  100%  normal  now.

One  more  thing  he  does  not  like  dry  food  much.  Keeps  spitting  out  (later  on  eats  but  seems  does  not  like  it  much).  Eats  prawn  very  eagerly.

Can  I  feed  him  live  blood  worm  or  worms  once  a  week  or  so?

 Binesh,
Also  let  me  know  can  I  add  a  baby  female  FH  now  without  any  partition  in  tank?

Good  to  know  your  FH  is  fine.

Yes  you  can  feed  blood  worms.

Would  not  be  a  good  idea  to  add  another  which  is  any  smaller  than  this  guy.  In  any  case  there  would  be  a  lot  of  aggression.
