 Hi,
I  have  setup  a  new  4ft  tank  with  just  3  baby  Oscars  as  of  now.  So  the  tank  and  power  filter  are  new  sets.

After  I  did  water  change  on  Sunday  last  week,  within  3  days  the  water  had  clouded  a  lot.
Yesterday  I  did  another  water  change  and  scrapped  the  (inside)  tank  surface  with  a  card.  I  was  astonished  to  see  a  lot  of  jelly  like  slime  coming  off  the  corners  and  surface.

The  tank  setup  is  2  weeks  old.
I  am  feeding  Hikari  and  Tetra.

 Regards,

That  could  be  due  to  your  feed,  fishes  or  even  due  to  your  water.

Make  sure  you  scrape  and  clean  all  glass  walls  during  your  weekly  75  percent  water  changes,  and  your  fishes  will  be  happy!

jelly  like  thing....i  hope  its  not  the  silicon  sealant  that  you  are  scrapping  off   Shocked

what  is  the  filter  you  are  using...just  a  internal  power  filter  or  something  else  also?  sometimes  in  a  canister  filter  the  tank  recycles  itself  and  the  water  becomes  cloudy...and  yes  it  would  be  good  to  let  us  know  how  much  you  are  feeding  and  a  pic  of  the  tank  would  certainly  help   Smile

Loosely  spread  silicon  on  smooth  galss  do  come  off   after  about  a  week  or  so.  It  hold  good  at  the  joints  nad  hence  no  need  pt  panic  as  of  now.
The  scarapes  are  normally  absorved  by  the  filters.

The  clouding  may  or  may  not  be  due  to  this  only.  lot  of  factors  involved.
BTW,  oscars  are  nasty  eaters,  could  easily  pollute  the  water  with  their  habits.

Please  add  the  details  as  requested  by  Binesh.

I  guess  its  just  a  bacterial  bloom  -  give  the  tank  some  time  and  do  your  water  changes  regularly  -  it  should  all  clear  up  in  some  time.  I  think  you  should  have  no  problems  with  the  low  bioload  that  you  have  now...

Hi,  I  would  say  it  is  a  bacterial  bloom.   Was  the  tank  cycled  correctly  before  you  added  the  fish?   I  hope  you  dont  mind  me  saying  but  3  Oscars  should  not  be  in  the  tank.   They  are  big  bodied  fish,  even  though  may  only  be  small  now.   They  eat  a  lot  and  make  a  lot  of  mess  which  will  only  lead  to  problems  for  you  and  the  fish  in  the  coming  months.  They  grow  very  quickly.   I  would  cut  back  on  feeding  for  a  little  while  and  make  sure  your  tank  is  cycled.  Smile

@chinkz,  Jenny  -  your  observation  is  correct.  I  guess  as  the  setup  was  new  and  the  filter  was  new  it  took  almost  a  month  to  bring  the  bacteria  etc  at  decent  level.
Now  the  tank  is  maintaining  good  quality  water.

@Vinod  -  yes  I  am  getting  brownish  (gooey)  stuff  but  only  from  the  area  where  the  silicone  adhesive  is  present.

Is  there  some  additive  to  remove  hardness  from  water?

 Thanks  for  all  the  comments.
