 Hi  all,

Two  days  back  i  have  started  my  DIY  CO2  unit  from  yeast.  But  it  is  not  working.  Its  more  than  56  hours  but  i  havent  seen  any  bubbles  out  of  it.  I  think  i  have  done  something  wrong  but  i  cant  figure  out  what.  This  is  what  i  have  done.
I  take  2  liter  Coke  bottle.  Take  2  cup  warm  water  and  mix  2  cups  of  sugar  in  it.  add  1/2  spoon  of  dry  yeast.  put  everything  in  coke  bottle  shake  it  and  still  wating  for  bubbles  to  come  out.

Pls  advice  me  if  I  have  done  something  wrong.
 Thanks  in  advance.

Your  mixture  is  wrong  and  possibly  you  have  a  leak.  Simple

The  airline  tubing  that  goes  into  the  cap  is  not  gas  tight.
The  cap  on  the  bottle  may  also  be  leaking  CO2.

It  is  not  2  cup  warm  water.  You  have  to  fill  the  bottle  to  3/4  volume  with  water  (1.5  liters  of  water)  then  mix  2  cups  sugar  or  pre  mix  and  add  to  the  bottle.

Dissolve  a  1/4  -  1/2  teaspoon  of  yeast  granules  in  about  a  cup  of  luke  warm  water  and  pour  into  the  bottle.  Cap  the  bottle  tight.

 Hi,

 Thanks  for  advice.
Prevously  I  thought  may  be  i  have  leak  in  the  system  thats  why  i  checked  it  by  submerging  the  bottle  in  bucket  full  of  water  but  i  dont  find  any  leak.  may  be  my  mixture  is  wrong.  will  try  to  correct  it  today.

 anyway  thanks....

 Hi,
i  have  also  made  DIY  co2  using  Madan's  instructions  but  the  problem  is  that  even  after  24  hrs  their  are  no  bubbles  and  the  yeast  is  floating  on  the  surface  of  the  mixture  and  it  has  taken  the  shape  of  the  bottom  of  the  bottle.

Did  u  try  and  dissolve  the  yeast  properly  in  luke  warm  water  before  mixing  it  with  Sugar  Dissolved  water?
i  did  it  in  the  same  way  and  mine  started  working  within  15  hrs.

 Thanks
 Rohan

 Hi  Rohan,

As  per  the  article  in  www.theKrib.com,  the  sugar  solution  should  be  dissolved  in  luke  warm  water.  We  should  then  allow  the  solution  to  cool  down.    If  we  dissolve  dry  yeast  in  luke  warm  water  then  we  may  not  get  enough  yeast.

I  was  able  to  get  CO2  within    3-  4  hours  and  the  mixture  lasted  2  weeks.

 Regards
 Bala.

 Hi,

Forget  to  post  any  result  in  this  thread.
But  everything  work  for  me  according  to  Madan's  instruction.  Bubbles  start  to  come  after  10-12  hrs.

 Thanks  for  the  help  Madan.

 Regards

 Hi  Imran,

My  instructions  are  almost  as  per  the  krib.com,  there  is  hardly  any  difference

How  can  there  be  a  difference  when  all  you  do  is  dissolve  sugar  in  water  add  yeast  granules  predissolved  in  a  bit  of  water,  and  you  have  CO2  in  about  12  hrs.

If  you  don't  get  CO2  this  way,  -  then....

 1.  Your  yeast  must  be  bad  (  it  obviously  can't  be  the  sugar  that  is  bad)

 2.  The  temperature  is  below  freezing  (  which  cannot  happen  in  Hyderabad)

 3.  Your  CO2  DIY  setup  has  a  leak  that's  why  you  don't  see  the  bubbles.

 Now  Fix  it.

 Hi  Imran!
I  completely  agree  with  Madan.  I  am  using  the  same  recipe  for  the  last  one  year  or  so  and  it  is  absolutely  fine.  I  think  u  should  check  up  with  the  yeast.  Because  it  is  the  yeast  which  is  the  main  ingredient  which  converts  the  sugar  into  CO2.  U  can  retry  and  post  us  the  results.  I  do  not  think  that  there  is  anything  wrong  with  the  mix.

 Hi  Madan,
I  am  using  golden  eagle  brand  of  yeast  which  looks  like  a  good  quality  product  if  we  take  into  consideration  the  way  it  is  packed.By  the  way  you  mentioned  in  one  of  your  other  posts  that  golden  eagle  brand  of  yeast  is  of  good  quality.I  have  also  checked  but  found  no  leakage  by  submersing  the  bottle  in  a  bucket  of  water.I  think  i  made  some  eror  while  making  it.
So  i  will  try  to  make  it  again  as  per  madan's  instructions  .
