you  can  never  predict  the  behaviour  of  a  cichlid.  each  fish  has  its  own  unique  identity  and  behaviorial  traits.....there  are  some  guidelines  that  can  tell  you  what  to  expect  but  that  may  not  necessesarily  be  the  same

hybrid  is  a  cross  between  2  diff  species.  this  brings  into  play  the  question:  which  dominant  trait  has  passed  down.  general  rule  of  the  thumb  for  a  FH  is  that  they  are  mean,  get  big  and  are  known  to  be  real  bruisers.

could  i  ask  you  as  to  why  are  you  encouraging  the  hybrid  business  by  buying  this  fish?

thanks  for  your  reply  zakk.the  thing  is  that  this  flowerhorn  parrot  is  in  a  tank  which  also  accomodates  a  flowerhorn..the  poor  bugga  is  being  getting  chased  like  hell  as  the  tank  is  small..the  only  reason  i  want  to  buy  it  because  i  kind  of  liked  its  colour..i  am  planning  to  house  it  an  my  10  gallon  tank  here  and  afterwards  take  it  back  to  my  hometown  guwahati  and  release  it  to  my  four  footer  there..
another  reason  is  its  price  is  tempting  me  to  buy  it..it  is  being  sold  at  a  very  very  cheap  price,as  compared  to  the  place  where  i  come  from..i  am  planning  to  keep  it  with  other  malawi  cichlids..i  know  that  they  are  not  at  all  compatible  but, its  just  a  matter  of  a  month..what  do  you  guys  think..any  views..?

 not  a  good  idea....

better  leave  it  at  the  LFS,
if  u  want  to  buy  it,  keep  it  in  a  seperate  tank  all  by  itself

no  dude.  let  this  fish  face  its  fate  in  the  LFS  it  self.  if  u  buy  this  fish,  trust  me,  the  LFS  guy  will  replace  it  within  a  few  days  with  yet  another  parrot  flowerhorn.

the  simple  fact  that  this  guy  is  willin  to  sell  him  real  cheapkind  of  throws  up  a  red  flag  in  my  books.  as  a  rule  if  a  LFS  sells  a  fish  at  a  throw  away  price,  i  stay  away  from  that  fish.  i  encourage  regular  customers'  discount  (who  doesnt)  but  otherwise  nope.

ok  guys.i  got  it..thanks  a  ton  for  your  advice..i  guess  i  will  have  to  do  away  with  the  temptation  of  keepin  it...
just  wanted  to  let  you  know  that  i  have  bought  a  yellow  lab  and  he  has  already  made  his  territory  by  digging  up  all  the  gravel  and  displaying  awesome  colours  in  front  of  the  tetras, whom  he  wants  to  mate  with   ROFL  ..
jokes  apart,i  would  be  redoing  the  tank  by  adding  more  rocks  and  buying  some  more  labs  this  sunday  at  galiff  street..  Very Happy
will  update  the  pics  when  done..
