Before  four  years  I  was  bought  a  small  Bowl  and  two  gold  fish.  One  of  gold  fish  was  died  next  day.  Then  Local  Pet  shop  guy  suggest  me  to  buy  a  1.5x1x1  tank.  I  bought  it  and  keep  mollies  and  platies  in  it.  Then  I  get  into  fish  Keeping.  Know  I  have  42x12x18,  36x24x24,  1x1x1  aquariums.  I  attach  my  very  first  aquarium  pic.

 Ok........thats  a  nice  topic

My  grand  dad  was  a  native  fish  collector.  He  used  to  collect  natives  and  send  them  to  bombay.

So  right  from  the  time  I  was  born  there  were  fish  in  cement  troughs  in  our  ancestral   home.......and  my  grand  dad  presented  me  a  horlicks  bottle  with  some  fish  in  it  for  my  first  birthday  and  fish  has  been  a  part  of  my  family  for  the  past  three  decades...  Smile

Well  for  me  it  was  a  stark  empty  white  wall...could  not  figure  what  to  do  with  it  and  then  I  just  thought  why  not  a  nice  planted  tank  with  some  tiny  fishes?  And  here  it  is...it  was  customized  during  renovation  project...

My  4  month  old  doctor  passed  by  LFS  on  route  to  the  temple.
You  should  have  seen  her  eyes  looking  at  all  the  fishes.
 Thats  when  i  got  a  tank  .
She  is  a  year  old  now.

It  was  cause  of  my  brother  n  my  father  that  i  got  into  this  hobby.
Dad  got  a  30"*12"*12"  tank  for  us  and  then  after  2-3  yrs  constructed  a  4'*2'*2'  cement  tank  on  our  house  terrace  some  15  yrs  back.  We  kept  a  whole  lot  of  fishes  since  then

And  now  I  have  a  4'*2'*2'  tank  along  with  a  22"*15"*15"  (both  planted),  Bros  have  a  36"*1.5"*1.5"  planted  tank  (he  is  settled  in  London  now)  and  Dad  still  maintains  a  42"*12"*1.5"  tank

When  I  was  kid,  in  my  village  I  used  to  keep  catfishes(magur,  singi)  in  a  big  cement  tank,  and  also  we  have  our  own  big  pond..so  start  was  there  Smile
Then  moving  into  town  I  started  keeping  Mollies,  goldfish  in  our  staff  quarters  Smile  and  took  a  hell  lot  of  time  to  convince  parents  for  aquarium,  first  2*1*1  then  3feeter,  4  and  5  feeter  Smile
Now  only  4feeter  is  in  home  which  is  housing  3  Jumbo  Sized  oscars   Smile

 Two  important  contributing  factors....

My  passion  for  interiors/innovation  and  my  going  in  for  a  new  Home  (space)  in  Mumbai  was  the  trigger

Becoming  member  of  this  excellent  forum  and  meeting  the  'Gurus'  in  Bangaluru  -  which  keeps  me  going.

 Cheers,
 K  Ram

When  I  was  young(i  guess  in  4th  standard)  ,  one  of  my  dad's  friend  had  a  big  fish  tank,  he  used  to  have  lots  of  variities  in  that,  he  also  had  tortoise  that  time...I  got  facinated  that  time  only....I  used  to  call  him  "MASEWALE  KAKA"  (in  marathi  for  uncle  who  owns  fish)...I  used  to  always  ever  ready  to  visit  his  place.....
My  parents  were  not  allowing  me  to  keep  fish  tank  at  my  home  because  they  were  thinking  I  cant  take  care  of  it....but  after  very  long  wait  in  9th  standard  my  dad  bought  me  a  24  x  12  x  12  tank....and  my  journey  started.....,,,in  between  I  got  attracted  to  a  flowerhorn  very  much  and  now  i  got  4  tanks...
here  is  pic  of  my  tanks

 thanks  and  regards,

 Thank  You

The  "area"  (or  foot-print)  dedicated  to  fish-tanks  at  our  place  at  Ghatkopar  is  now  close  to  20  sqft.  ..  This  number  is  soon  going  to  rise  to  about  35  sq.  ft.  (with  only  3  large  set-ups  (Aro+Odd  balls,  African  and  New  World)  and  other  tanks  dismantled  or  as  grow-outs/hospitals/QTs  ).

Your  kaki-aaji  (grand-aunty  and  grand  uncle)  think  I  am  going  crazy,  but  I  am  blaming  all  of  this  on  you  and  your  dad  getting  me  interested  in  fish-keeping  Razz  Chuckle

 Love,
