Hi  Guys,  need  your  help  and  inputs.  I  have  a  3x1.5x1.5  tank  empty  and  didn't  get  enough  votes  to  make  it  planted.  So  planning  to  make  it  a  SA  cichlids  setup.

Please  suggest  me  fishes  (SA  cichlids)  which  I  can  keep  and  if  possible  breed.  And  please  don't  forget  to  mention  from  where  I  can  source  them  if  you  can.

 hey  Tirtha,

since  your  tank  is  only  3x1.5x1.5  you  wont  be  able  to  see  the  real  characteristics  of  big  eartheaters,  i  would  not  go  for  bigger  varities  rather  i  will  go  in  for  dwarf  cichlids(apistos  or  rams),  with  schooling  fishes....

my  suggestion:  6  nos  bolivian  ram  ,  20  nos  lemon  fins  ,  6nos  corries...

 good  luck

For  such  smaller  size  tank,  variety  of  Apistos  &  Rams  sound  good  to  me.
Bigger  size  SA  cichlids  not  suitable  at  all.

 HI  Thirtha,
Sorry  to  note  that  you  are  not  going  for  a  planted  setup.   How  about  Jwel  Chichlids?  They  look  beautiful  in  group  only  issue  is  they  will  attack     others  which  are  smaller  than  them  they  breed  too  in  captivity.  After  seeing  their  beauty  I  took   a  pair  from  Rezimental  bazaar  and  kept  along  with  my  other  dwarf  chichlids  in  no  time  they  began  attacking  the  small  blue  morphs  and  Now  they  are  in  prison  for  more  than  2  weeks  for  their  mistake.  I  saw  many  of  them  with  shop  of  Prince  in  rezimmental  bazaar.

 with  best  regards,
 Sudheer

I  can  give  you  a  breeding  pair  of  rainbow  cichlids  if  you  want,  these  are  cute  and  dont  grow  larger  than  4",  they  will  do  good  in  a  3ftr  and  even  produce  lotsa  fry   :thumb:

for  SA  cichlids,  check  up  rezi,  but  you  will  get  the  regular  stuff  like  texas,  GT,  severum,  oscars,  angels  etc...  a  tank  set  up  of  angels  will  also  look  good,  the  height  of  the  tank  will  also  do  justice  to  the  swimming  behaviour  of  angels,  maybe  angels  and  a  couple  of  cory  cats,

Why  is  that  everyone  wants  a  tanned  SA/CA  setup  these  days.  This  hobby  is  like  a  contageous  disease  Razz  one  does  it,  evryone  esle  has  to  do  it  too.

Unfortunately,  choices  are  very  limited  for  this  tank  size, most  fishes  that  would  fit  into  such  tank  are  quite  rare  and  pricey  in  our  market.  As  mentioned  above,  something  like  dwarf  cichlids,  dwarf  pikes,  small  eartheaters,  flags,  etc.

You  may  give   try  to  true  pterophylum  scalare,  along  with  rams,  tetras  and  cories,  exotic  plecos.  This  setup  can  have  some  dwarve  saggittarias,  larger  echinodorus  sp.  etc,  and  a  few  twisty  interesting  pieces  of  wood.

IF  a  CA  setup,  you  can  easily  go  for  4-6  firemouth  meeki's/rainbow  cichlids/HRPs,  etc(you  can  either  have  a  single  large  group  of  one  of  these),  along  with  Mexican  tetras,  or  maybe  their  lookalike  BA  tetras,  sailfin  mollies, and  lots  of  wild  algaes  growing  in  the  tank.

You  can  have  half  a  dozen  smaller  eartheaters  like  tapajos  red  head,  g.  altifrons,  balzani,  etc.  The  tank  will  be  good  as  starter  and  later,  these  fish  will  need  a  tank  upgrade.

 @Mudassir...H.multipinosa  are  CA  cihlids  FYI.

And  most  of  fishes  you  mentioned  need  a  much  bigger  tank,  I  had  a  hard  time  giving  away  my  old  big  cichlids,  as  you  know.  I'll  never  keep  larger  cichlids  again  unless  I  have  a  huge  setup.

cihlids  require  more  space  bro.........................dwarf  cichlids(apistos  or  rams)  would  be  ideal  for  your  tank  size
