A  humpback  whale  was  found  dead  in  Thanni  beach  (Kollam  -  Kerala).  It  is  30  Km's  far  from  my  house.  It  was  a  sheer  dreadful  sight  to  watch  it  dead  on  the  shore   Crying or Very sad  .

Quote:
A  dead  humpback  whale  measuring  nearly  40  ft  was  found  washed  ashore  on  Lakshmithoppe  Beach  at  Thanni  near  here  on  Tuesday  morning.

Deputy  Director  of  Fisheries  K.J.  Prasanna  Kumar,  who  inspected  the  carcass,  said  the  whale  had  a  deep  injury  on  its  back.  A  ship  ramming  into  the  mammal  could  have  caused  the  injury,  he  said.

Mr.  Prasanna  Kumar  said  the  whale  could  have  been  dead  about  a  week  ago  and  the  carcass  was  rotting.  Efforts  in  the  morning  to  haul  the  whale  from  the  shoreline  and  bury  it  were  in  vain  as  the  rope  snapped.

Towards  evening,  a  crane  was  brought  and  the  whale  was  hauled  and  buried.  The  whale  should  weigh  more  than  20  tonnes.

 Translation  of  the  Video:

A  dead  whale   was  found  at  Kollam,  Lakshmithoppe  Beach  at  eravipuram.  The  body  seemed  to  be  decaying.  People  were  crowded  all  over  the  shore  to  see  the  giant  fish.  Later  Fisheries  Dept  reached  the  sight  and  ensured  the  whale  is  found  only  in  Pacific  Ocean.  Injuries  have  been  found  below  the  stomach  area  and  it  might  be  a  ship  that   may  be  rammed  through  the  whale  causing  the  injury  to  death.

Three  days  before  a  giant  dolphin  was  also  found  dead  nearby  Kollam,  this  time  it  was  get  washed  on  the  shores  of  paravoor,  Kollam.  Fisheries  tried  to  bury  it  nearby  but  the  local  people  opposed  to  do  so  as  it  would  be  decaying  and  causes  various  health  problems.  Finally  agreed  to  piece  it  small  parts  and  buried  in  the  empty  land  close  to  the  shore.
