 Hello  Guys..

Need  some  help  on  fixing  this  problem..
I  am  trying  to  start  my  first  marine  aquarium,  for  that  I  started  preparing  the
water  with  Red  Sea  salt,  though  the  SG  is  1.020  @  30.2C  which  is  normal  as  per  the
SG/Temp  scale  the  water  remains  too  cloudy  still  now  and  it  is  almost  impossible  to
see  through  it.  I  have  kept  running  a  wave  maker  and  a  Power  head  from  skimmer  for
aeration.  After  more  than  48  hrs,  the  water  has  still  not  cleared  and  around  25  gms  of
white  precipitate  visible  in  the  bottom  and  it  is  not  getting  dissolved.  I  believe  this  is  the  same  reason
the  water  looks  cloudy  as  the  same  stuff  is  all  over  the  place  due  to  water  movement.
I  saw  somewhere  that  the  Calcium  is  getting  precipitated.  It  will  be  appreciated  if  the  experts
can  put  some  light  on  this  and  also  on  how  to  get  this  thing  fixed..

 Thanks  in  advance

As  of  now  no  filtration  has  been  started,  just  making  the  water.  The  sump  is  yet  to  be  ready  at  LFS.
once  that  happens  the  filtration  will  start.  But  what  will  happen  to  those  undissolved  calcium
 presipitated.

Which  salt  mix  have  you  used?

Hydrometer  may  also  be  off.  They  can  be  woefully  inaccurate.

Can  you  be  bit  more  elaborate  yajur,  How  will  I  know  the  salt  has   been  mixed  properly  or  not.
because  I  do  not  find  any  standard  procedure  documented  on  how  to  mix  salt  to  fresh  water
so  that  there  are  less  precipitation.

 500mg  Cups  ???

you  mean  .5  grams...2  of  those  makes  1  gram,  or  1000mg...that  too  for  50  Liters  of  water,  no  no  Yajur...something  is  wrong,  may  be  you  want  to  mean  500g  cups.  2  of  those  will  make  1KG.  as  per  the  salinity  is  concerned,  it  is  1.021@24*C.  Mine  is  1.019@30*C,  both  of  these  values  denote  same  degree  of  salinity.  30Grams  Salt/1  liter  of  water.

That  is  what  my  salinity  is.
