 Hey  guys,

I  think  I  ll  need  one,  as  using  polythene  bags  is  quite  tough.
So  need  your  ideas  on  a  decent  sized  one  thats  easy  to  carry.

Main  points  I  need  to  know
 >  Is  acralyic  best  or  glass
 >  Whats  the  basic  size  one  would  need,  6inch?
 >  Any  enclosure  you  make  to  carry  it?

I  am  thinking  of  this  design,  so  that  I  can  take  pics  of  small  and  big  ones  easlily.  So  need  your  critiques  how  ever  silly  they  might  be.

 Many  thanks  in  advance.

 6"x1"x3"   Thumb Up
Sumer  has  done  a  marvelous  job  with  such  a  tank.  He  used  a  syringe  for  the  silicone..

this  is  the  tank  i  made.  Shankar  liked  it  a  lot  and  I  gifted  it  to  him.
I  was  thinking  of  6"x3"x6".  But  then  shubh  said  that  fish  will  turn.  So  I  made  this.  Clicking  channa  was  very  easy  :)

Good  One.  Next  time  I  will  too  make  one  before  going  on  a  fishing  trip.  Good  way  to  shoot  them.
 Polythene  bags  are  too  tacky.

 I  would  personally  say  have  a  slightly  larger  tank  may  be  12inches  (L)  x  10  inches  (W)  x  8  inches  (H)  one  or  12inches  (L)  x  12  inches  (W)  x  12  inches  (H)  one.

This  allows  you  to  put  in  the  gravel  where  the  fish  was  collected  and  that  helps  the  fish  to  settle  down
and  often  allows  you  to  take  better  pics  and  the  fish  also  shows  its  original  colors  as  it  is  not  stressed.

 Best  Regards

 Sujoy

 Sujoy,
Although  i  agree  with  you  about  the  fish  getting  settled,  the  tank  sizes  you  mention,  are  impractical  to  carry  both  on  the  field  and  during  the  travel  to  and  fro.  (this  is  particularly  applicable  for  sorry  miserly  students  like  me,  who  are  at  the  mercy  of  public  transport   Chuckle)
6x1x3  vanishes  into  your  bag  and  can  be  easily  cushioned.
Plus,  you  can  always  add  gravel  to  this  tank  as  well!

I  agree  with  Shubh.  I  was  on  a  collection  trip  with  some  ichthyologists  and  they  were  very  particular  about  what  pics  had  to  be  taken  &  how  &  of  what.  Trust  me  they  had  a  slightly  larger  tank  which  yes  did  accommodate  the  larger  specimens  and  for  smaller  ones  they  had  a  glass  which  could  be  slid  along  from  the  back  and  adjusted  &  the  works  but  just  to  carry  that  along  was  a  pain.  I  personally  carry  3  sizes  of  photo  tanks  starting  from  5"-12"  but  none  higher  than  5"  &  wider  than  3".  Works  like  magic.

See  if  you  could  get  hold  of  "EXTRA  CLEAR  FLOAT  GLASS".  It  would  look  awesome  if  you  do  with  the  extra  clear  float  glass.  But  it  might  be  difficult  to  get  this  glass  in  this  small  dimension.  Still  give  a  try...   Thumb Up

Shelly,  is  there  any  noticeable  difference  in  clarity  between  normal  and  extra  clear  glass,  for  thicknesses  of  4mm?
