I  always  wanted  to  have  a  sump  but  was  always  stumped  by  the  fact  that  I  needed  a  overflow.  In  order  to  get  an  overflow  I  either  had  to  drill  the  tank  or  DIY  one.  Drilling  is  dicey  snce  IMO  that  it  weakens  the  glass  and  most  of  DIY  design  were  too  complicated  for  me  to  build.  Then  Aquascapes  gave  me  a  link  where  in  a  simple  design  was  made  and  I  gave  that  a  shot  and  boy  was  that  successful  or  what.  The  Overflow  moves  some  serious  water  and  works  like  a  dream.  The  pictures  are  posted  :

I  have  also  redone  the  scaping..please  have  a  look  and  comment  .

 Hi  rajeev,

Wow!  this  is  great  Thumbs Up

Can  you  please  post  the  working  of  the  overflow,
How  does  it  hold  the  siphon  when  powercuts?
where  is  the  overflow  chamber  ?
Does  it  make  a  gurgeling  sound?

 Thanks  and  Regards
 Rahul

The  water  enters  through  the  left  and  exits  from  the  right.  There  is  a  small  airlock  on  top  of  the  elbow  this  is  used  to  such  the  air  thereby  creating  the  siphon.  When  the  power  fails  the  water  in  the  tank  drops  but  the  siphon  does  not  break  since  water  is  trapped  in  the  U  of  the  pipe  and  when  the  power  comes  on  the  siphon  re  starts.  There  is  no  need  of  an  overflow  chamber  since  the  pipe  acts  as  one.  It  easier  to  understand  when  it  is  made

 Hi  Rajeev,
Got  the  working  of  this,  Very Happy

What  is  the  DIA  of  the  pipe  that  you  have  used  ?
What  is  the  MAX  flow  rate  that  you  get  assuming  that  the  overflow  part  is  completely  under  water  (what  is  the  height  of  the  water  surface  from  the  sump)  ?

 Thanks  and  Regards
 rahul
