 Sampath,

I  think  that  tank  is  not  big  enough  to  house  adult  discus.  I'm  sure  some  discus  experts  will  be  along  to  clarify  further.

 hi  code  name,

i  think  your  tank  capacity  is  75g.well  for  each  discus  10g  required.in  your  tank  u  can  keep  6.but  my  suggestion  is  to  keep  4.because  that  ll  reduce  your  work  and  water  ll  be  good  for  some  more  days.

Yes,  you  can  ...  go  on  Sam,  but  need  to  change  30-40%  water  every  day  if  feeding  dry  foods  only.
If  planning  to  feed  BHM  or  any  similer  thing,  you  need  to  change  50%  daily  after  every  feeding.

 Sampath  ,

As  per  the  tank  size  mentioned  by  you  ,  this  size  is  good  to  keep  4  adult  size  discus  .  better  move  them  all  in  4  ft  tank  .  If  no  option  for  larger  tank  and  if  you  are  feeding  animal  heart  then  you  need  to  do  atleast  75%  daily  WC  .

 Thanks

 hi  dude,
IMO  it  is  a  thumb  rule  and  it  can  change..  if  u  change  a  couple  of  other  thingies..
IMO  i  would  provide  with  heavy  filteration  and  go  ahead  with  stocking  6  fish...

AS  they  are  adults  we  dont  have  a  problem  of  stunted  growth..

And  with  WC  daily  30-40%  i  wouldnt  worry  at  all...

   Thumb Up

As  Mitul  said  you  can  go  for  6  adult  discus.  Small  discus  or  medium  sized  discus  need  more  feeding  &  more  water  changes  .  The  advantage  of  adult  discus  is  you  can  maintain  there  health  with  one  time  feed.  So  less  polluted  water  &  less  water  changes.

But  how  would  you  define  adult  discus....more  than  1  year  old?  or  18-24  month?

 @  Anand

Adult  discus  is  18  months  old.  But  here  adult  discus  means  fully  grown,  proper  shape  &  patter  developed  (may  be  10  months  old).  As  such  discus  already  grown  &  everything  is  perfect,  so  we  no  need  to  work  on  growing  part  &  that's  help  us   to  maintain  our  tank  with  less  trouble.

Once  Discus  reaches  the  spawnable  age  you  can  call  it  a  Adult  discus  ,  generally  it  is  around  12  months  .  There  are  discus  which  start  spawning  at  the  age  of  10  months  also  ,   by  inducing  them  with  regular  water  change  ,  good  feeding  ,  or  by  other  means  ,  but  you  can't  say  that  they  are  adult  because  all  are  not  mature  @  that  point  .

Its  a  tank  good  enough  to  raise  6  discus  to  adulthood.

Anand:  I  have  seem  them  grow  a  little  after  they  have  spawned.

Female  lay  eggs  even  after  8  months.  So  spawning  means  not  they  are  now  matured  enough,  so  they  grow  even  more  2"  after  that  &  I  seen  that  growth  many  time.
