Does  IAH  have  a  store?  I  guess  not,  then  it  is  strange  not  to  allow  price  discussion.

Truly  that  is  the  reason  I  asked!!  I  am  not  discussing  anything...those  are  the  quoted  price  and  I  was  getting  clue  about  the  market  price  etc.  The  tank  is  not  ready  yet  and  I  have  not  paid  any  money.

Sorry,  still  if  the  rule  is  violated.....but  these  are  quoted  price.

Hope  within  2  days  I  will  have  the  details  about  the  brand  brand/models/ratings  of  the  Filter(s)  and  air-pump  as  today  I  have  to  work  on  my  manager's  quota

Admin  &  Mod  please  feel  free  to  delete  or  edit  my  post....but  those  discussions  were  helpful...at  least  I  have  trust  on  the  guy  who  is  making  my  tank....!!

 Hi  San,

Just  to  add  to  what  Nayak  advised  you  above,  you  are  free  to  exchange  price-quote  discussion  via  your  PM  inbox.
Spending  time  on  forum  will  make  you  decide  the  experienced  people  in  your  city/area,  so  you  can  raise  your  price-related  queries  to  them.  Believe  me,  our  IAH  members  are  very  supportive  towards  extending  help  to  fellow  members.

Welcome  to  IAH  &  have  a  great  time  here!

 Sid  and  all....

Since  the  tank  is  being  ready....few  more  queries  (excluding  price)  from  my  end.....

 1.  Since  majorly  we  go  for  sand...what  type  of  sand  would  be  ideal?...i  was  wondering  if  i  use  a  powerful  filter  there  is  a  chance  of  loosing  sand  particles  at  the  time  of  cleaning  the  sponge  and  naughty  fishes  will  play  and  make  the  tank  dirty??

 2.  Sand  color  is  also  important....i  prefer  for  non-complementary  colors...for  eg...if  the  fish  is  of  dark  color  then  surroundings  would  be  light  or  vice  versa.....

Help  me  in  understanding.  Did  quick  googling  and  found  some  list...

 Aqua  Soil  -  Amazonia  (Expensive)
AZOO  Premium  Reef  Aquarium  Sand  (Expensive)
 Ceramic  Sand  (Ok  price)
OCEAN  FREE  ORGONite  Base  Sand  (expensive)
 Shining  Black  Sand  (Ok  price)

ALSO  I  AM  GOING  FOR  A  WORKSHOP  IN  GOA.....WILL  THERE  BE  A  CHANCE  OF  COLLECTING  SOME  NATURAL  DECORS  STUFF...ANY  ONE  FROM  GOA  CAN  SUGGEST  ME?

 @  San:

Cichlids  (all  Cichlids,  even  the  Hybrids)  love  to  play  in  the  sand..  There  is  nothing  wrong  with  it  and  if  your  filters  are  good  this  won't  make  your  tank  dirty  at  all..

Remembering  that  you  are  planning  this  tank  for  a  Flower  Horn:

There  are  two  schools  of  thought  about  what  surroundings  should  be  provided  to  a  FH.

Opinion  1:  To  "Improve"  their  color,  FH  need  the  tank  (substrate,  background  etc)  to  be  as  bright  as  possible.  People  here  strongly  recommend  against  using  black  background  and  black  sand.  Some  (most)  people  go  for  red  and  blue  and  other  bright  colored  stones.  These  people  also  feed  their  FH  all  those  steroid  laden  foods

Opinion  2:  To  keep  the  FH  under  as  less  stress  as  possible,  provide  natural  surroundings..  Here  the  sand  and  background  can  be  whatever  gives  the  most  natural  look  to  the  tank.  (And  feed  the  FH  good  quality  Cichlid  food  like  Hikari  Cichlid  GOld  and  Bio  GOld)

I  am  a  Cichlid  keeper  and  I  love  to  keep  my  fish  under  as  natural  conditions  as  possible.  Hence,  I  am  of  "opinion  2".

Let  someone  from  the  other  school  of  thought  pitch  in  before  you  decide.

 Cheers,
 Sid

I  dont  see  the  need  for  Premium  Sand  and  soil  products  truly  for  flowerhorns,  simple  badarpur  sifted  should  do  as  well  and  bring  out  the  colours  of  FH.  For  Buffering  you  can  use  a  small  quantity  of  Crushed  corals

 Hi,

 1.  Quartz  sand  is  beautiful  and  is  good  for  FHs  (not  much  expensive)

 2.  For  FHs  yes  it  is,  you  dont  want  your  FH  to  look  dull  so  you  need  to  go  for  bright  setup

Why  do  you  need  "Aqua  Soil  -  Amazonia".  I  assume  you  are  not  going  for  a  planted  setup  so  you  dont  need  it
Even  if  you  go  for  a  planted  one,  the  FH  will  uproot  the  plants

Just  go  for  a  simple  sand  ot  crushed  pebbles  sand...they  cost  Rs.XX

Now  about  Goa....I  have  been  the  a  few  months  back  and  you  only  driftwood  with  is  fit  for  aquarium  use.....dont  collect  stones  for  beach.....they  stink  and  you  have  to  boil  them  a  100  times  to  get  rid  of  the  smell
