Reduce  hiding  space,  they  would  be  in  control  by  eating  up  the  fry.

Unlike  humans,  animals  have  their  own  birth  control  methods.  The  population  of  plays  won't  cross  a  certain  limit  which  of  course  depends  on  your  tank  size  and  other  parameters.  So  rest  assured  the  population  will  not  explode.  As  it  is  you  just  have  8-9  juvis  out  of  4  platies.  Let  'em  multiply,  then  you  can  easily  take  out  a  few  and  distribute  to  other  enthusiasts  and  still  have  approx  same  number  of  fishes  in  your  tank.

Introduce  predators  (other  fish)  that  will  eat  the  fry.
The  Platy  will  drop  only  one  baby  at  a  time,  to  give  the  fry  more  hiding  places  and  better  chances  of  survival.

@Madan:  Can  you  name  few  of  the  predetors  which  can  coexist  with  cardinal,  harlequin  tetra,  killifish,  edler  guppys  also  yamatos  and  rc.

 Thanks,

@Bettalover27:  chances  are  your  bettas  are  have  a  snack  of  the  platy  fry  if  they  had  or  have  been  existing  in  your  tank.  Platyfish  don't  need  much  for  them  to  breed.  Wish  this  was  the  case  with  tetras   Smile

 Thanks,

Try  feeding  your  platies  with  humpy  head.  Go  for  the  indian  made  brands.  Your  platies  will  go  sterile.  Please  dont  introduce  predators  because  this  is  a  hobby  of  love.

Hobby  of  Love  -  so  no  natural  predators,  but  feed  them  a  hormone  overdose  daily  and  all  is  well  with  love  .  Bah  !

 Ryel,
Betta  is  one,  small  barbs  like  Puntius  vittatus  is  another,  a  third  option  would  be  a  couple  of  Ps  capunus.

Killing  the  fries  or  making  the  adults  sterile  both  sound  harsh.   Have  a  cement  tank  where  you  can  'dump'  all  fries  and  young  fishes.   Keep  this  tank  in  a  place  where  it  gets  good  sunlight.   This'll  cause  a  good  algae  growth  which  will  suffice  as  food  for  the  young  ones.   You  might  not  have  to  even  change  water  or  feed  them  regularly.   Once  they're  sizable  give  them  off  to  other  new  hobbyists,  kids  in  the  block  or  to  your  nearest  LFS.   They'll  be  happy  to  take.   This  is  what  I  do.   I  always  get  an  overdose  of  mollies  and  sword  tails.

Why  be  cruel  when  you  can  be  smart?  Exchange  your  fry  for  new  fish  or  supplies.
