 Regards,
 Venkat

what  is  the  so  called  live  sand  locally  called  there?  i  will  have  someone  check  that  for  me.  any  specific  shops  to  look  for?

another  question...  live  sand  vs  aragonite.  which  one  would  be  better  for  such  a  setup?  heard  live  sand  would  tend  to  trap  a  lot  of  debris  compared  to  aragonite.  is  that  true?

ps:  just  called  aqua  nature  (borivali)  and  they  said  they  have  live  sand  and  crushed  coral  with  them.  when  inquired  further  the  guy  said  crushed  coral  would  be  a  better  option.

a  little  delay  in  visiting  the  aquanature  (borivali).  was  there  today  and  they  showed  me  a  mix  of  live  sand  +  aragonite  (coral  reef)

 https://www.finsngills.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=529

it  was  a  bucket.  forgot  to  ask  the  quantity  but  seemed  to  be  a  9kg  bucket  like  shown  in  the  link.  for  Rs.  2xxx/-

Live  sand  is  marine  and  has  marine  bacteria  which  would  immediately   die  in  a  freshwater  aquarium  and  pollute  it.  Crushed  coral  is  also  a  form  of  aragonite,  so  is  live  sand.  Crushed  coral  traps  detiritus,  arag  sand  is  too  fine.  I  suggest   looking  at  grade  1  dolomite  from  tara  construction  santacruz  at  5  bucks  a  kilo  for  a  40  kilo  bag

super  silly  query  from  me  --  what  if  the  live  sand  is  thoroughly  washed  and  used?  would  it  be  safe?

can  you  please  post  a  pic  of  the  sand  if  possible?   :)

would  dolomite  help  in  raising  pH?  can  you  also  share  the  exact  address?

Most  live  sand  you  get  here  is  not  really  live.  Its  sand  that  might  have  been  live  at  some  point  before  it  was  shipped  halfway  around  the  world  and  spent  months  in  godowns.
Washed  and  dried  it  can  be  used  anywhere.  Its  just  aragonite.

 regards,
 Venkat

thanks  for  your  inputs.  i  think  we'd  be  better  off  with  the  live  sand  +  aragonite  (coral  reef)  then
