To  add  to  the  above,  metrogyl  works  more  efficiently  in  higher  temps  of  about  lower  30s.
30-45  Sec  KMnO4  baths  have  worked  extensively  for  me  ranging  from  all  wild  caught  natives  to  discus  and  even  to  tetras  and  not  to  mention  bloodworms  and  tubifex.   One  of  the  important  things  about  KMnO4  is,  its  an  oxidizing  agent  which  means  it  would  possibly  suck  in  all  the  oxygen.   So  before  it  acts/irritates  your  fish's  gills,  the  fish  would  come  up  for  oxygen.   A  triple  dose  with  an  interval  of  3  days  would  be  more  than  enough  to  cure  any  fish  and  one  more  advantage  of  KMnO4  is  it  burns  a  wide  range  of  parasites  and  bacteria.

 Hi  Rakha,

I  think  you  are  worried  about  measuring  out  1  gm.

Buy  a  cooking  spoon  set  (  The  Red  one  which  comes  in  a  set  of  1/4  tea  spoon  -  1  table  spoon  ).

The  1/4  tea  spoon  is  1.25  gms.

It's  available  in  any  Food  World  and  costs  10  bucks  a  set.

 Rest  follow  my  previous  post.

For  all  that  are  mentioned,  they  are  under  the  family  of  copepod.

Therefore  the  easiest  way  or  treatment  to  kill  them  is  using  Organophosphate.......the  more  comon  trade-names  are  :Dipterex,  Masoten,  Dylon  and  is  given  in  dose  of   150mg  or  0.15gm  per  100  litre  of  water  .

Repeat  treatment  on  day  5  and  another  5  days  later......and  that  should  be  o.k...  This  product  is  very  cheap....a  few  US$  per  kg  and  can  be  found  in  garden  supplies  (industrial  supplies)....as  it  is  acommonly  used  against  plant  or  garden  pests.

As  they  are  not  bacteria,  antibiotic  is  usually  unnecessary  as  copepods  will  not  be  affected  by  it  Thumb Down   Thumb Down  .....  unless  secondary  bacteria  infection  occurs  after  the  copepods  are  eliminated.

It  is  also  good  to  add  common  salt  @  100gm  per  100  litres  of  water  during  treatment  to  prevent  dehydration.

 Take  care,
 Andrew   Cheering
