They have grown out well... But do these lack the reddish/pinkish coloration we had caught near Kadra?

Thanks Arjun.
Humaid - Did you see the video Akshay put up on FB? They do have the same pinkish coloration!
Marc - Hope the fish reach fine!
A question for others - Does altitude play a role in varying coloration of specimens of the same specie? |

It definitely could be one of the factors. IMO the P. fasciatus from Valparai are the most colorful.
You consider this pradhani because they have five stripes and are from Maharashtra? |

Five stripes. We collected them in Karnataka, not Maharashtra.
and about my question, Valaparai is the only reason i asked about the altitude! The red on them, is unbelievable! |

Seasonal too maybe??? A trip a month or so ago to Valparai did not yield the P.fasciatus in their true glory.

Yes Shubh, they all reached fine. Thanks for taking the trouble buddy
Will post some pics once they settle down well.
What I have noticed is that water temperature also plays a role in colour. Those melons posted by Balaji, turned quite red in 'Chennai' for a few days when it rained and my outdoor tank became quite chill. It could be that the drop in temperature triggers their spawning colours or something similar. |
