It depends on whether your LFS is telling the truth or lying |

Raindeepak, the pic I have shown is a Desi FH,I was just asking him is it looking like this or not? if yes then it should be a Desi FH.
I saw few imported FH,Red color was dominent on all of them.Above all I would say :
If u like the fish then purchase it,dont see it is imported or Desi   |

Dear Sunil
How about test that guy in a Lie detector or Brain mapping
The quality of an FH judged by its colour, Showing sign of hump. Black flower patches and Blue Crystal sparks in the whole body. Even a good quality Fh shows those signs cleary, may be it is 2 and 1/2 or 3 " size
Regards

I agree with Psimhan and Deepak.
Most hobbyists think that "Good looking fish = imported and not-so-good-looking fish = desi one". LFS guys take advantage of this misconception. |

Mr. Ghsunil,
Welcome to IAH!
Imported fish, means fishes brought in from a foriegn country, and not bred in India.
Desi, or NOT INPORTED, means fishes bred in India.
Imported fish, does not necessarily mean that the fish is of good quality, and health. I have seen some really bad fishes that have been imported. In fact I have got some absolutely lousy flowerhorns from imported sources. This is because flowerhorns are hybrids, and even today, in a batch of fries produced by a pair of competition grade flowerhorns, you will see a lot of bad fishes, and a few good fishes. Thats why the real good flowerhorns cost you a lot.
In desi flowerhorns too, I have seen some fantastic quality fishes. Thats probably born to some real good flowerhorns that were imported. You can see Camy's flowerhorn, that was bred in Chennai. Looks really good, and can be much better than the so called imported fishes too.
So, look out for the qualities that you would like in your fish. Is it pearls, flowers, red coloration or the hump you want? Look at all the fishes at all the LFS you can. Then you can decide which one you like the most, and what falls into your budget too.
Happy fishkeeping. |
