 Hi  Dan,
Hope  you  have  updated  you  location  correctly  (Bangalore).  Because  to  grow  plants  with  a  0  watt  bulb.  you  should  be  living  in  the  Sun  itself.  ROFL

             Anyhow,  you  are  very  lucky.

One  suggestion:  the  head  of  the  filter  is  out  of  water.  Shocked  ,  it  should  always  be  immersed  in  water.   either  raise  the  water  level  or  lower  the  power  head.

 Aquaboy.

Man,  why  did  you  not  consult  with  people  in  your  area  when  you  were  planning  this  setup?  The  gravel  that  you  are  using  is  absolutely  unsuitable  for  plant  growth,  IMO.

 Any  way,  best  of  luck.

Oh  !  This  wish  of  yours  may  be  granted  !  If  you  continue  to  stock  such  species  together,  You  will  probably  have  to  run  to  the  LFS  frequently  to  get  more  fish   Smile

I  would  be  keen  to  look  at  the  pics  of  the  tank  after  a  month  or  two.

 Dear  Dan
There  is  no  bulb,  which  consumed  0  Watts.  In  general  15  watts  incandescent  bulbs  are  called  0  watts.
Please  take  all  the  comments  positively  and  don’t  lose  heart.  Anyway  your  tanks  data  are  superb.
 Regards
 Kaushik

It  might  be  the  ambient  light  that  is  falling  on  tank  keeping  the  plants  well,  not  very  sure  of  the  Zero  watt  bulb  though.  Nice  idea  though  Smile

 Dear  All,

Again,  I  say  the  Red  Bulb  works  (basic   biology).
Not  sure,  why  so  many  people  are  surprised  about  this,
why  don't  the  skeptics  try  for  themselves.

About  the  gravel,  I  already  had  it  from  one  of  my  very  old
setups.  Right  now,  I  am  looking  for  some  good  shell  free
 sand  for  a  top  layer.

Thanks  Kaushik,  as  you  said  it  is  a  15  watt  bulb  but
generally  called  a  zero  watt  bulb  in  any  provision  store.

Just  1  thing  guys,  I  can  only  do  what  I  can  afford.

But  thanks  for  the  comments  and  good  to  be  on  IAH.

 Regards

 Dan

Please  explain.  Believe  me  ,  I  am  not  really  trying  to  rub  it  here,  just  wanted  to  know  how  exactly  it  works  ?  The  lumen  and  watts/gal  is  going  to  really  low  from  this  bulb,  or  I  am  really  missing  some  fundamental  here  ?
