 @trix
 green  water  is  a  collection  of  small  microscopic  organisms  such  as  euglena  and  other  microscopic  organisms  which  live  in  the  water  ,
 it  is  used  for  feeding  very  small  fry  such  as  that  of  tetras

 Hey  Icecube---  did  you  try  breeding  neon's  again?  Also  can  you  explain  the  complete  step  by  step  procedure  to  breed  them?  I  have  got  around  10  of  them  and  kept  them  in  a  pretty  heavily  planted  tank..

 Also  I've  never  seen  cardinals  in  the  market,  any  idea  from  where  I  can  buy  them?

 i  too  have  26  full  grown  neons(by  that  i  mean  real  BIG  ones  as  per  neon  standards).
 i  have  them  in  my  almost  heavily  planted  tank  with  loads  of  java  moss  and  hairgrass  and  the  right  side  of  the  tank  gets  the  light  from  the  window.  throughout  the  day(i  cover  that  right  side  in  the  morning  while  leaving  to  office  as  direct  sunlight  falls  on  it).  now  in  the  morning  when  i  wake  up  at  around  7.15  or  so  sometimes  i  see  them  forming  a  pair  and  rotating  near  the  dwarf  hairgrass  area(atleast  2-3  pairs).......  they  kind  of  keep  rorating  for  some  times  and  when  i  switch  on  the  light  they  stop  doing  it(as  they  know  that  it  is  food  time).  now  is  that  the  a  spawning  dance????  though  i  cannot  expect  any  babies,  i  have  two  loaches,  2  algae  eaters,  i  shrimp.  so  even  if  they  lay  eggs  it  will  be  gone...

 though,  from  tody  i'll  sit  and  watch  for  half  an  hour  from  some  distance  because  those  fellows  see  any  activity  near  the  tank  and  they  all  come  to  the  top  for  food.....
 also  the  temperature  of  tank  is  around  26-27  degree.

 @mudjawd,
 yeah  you  are  right,
 thats  a  spawn  sance,
 appears  that  your  neons  are  breeding  th  natural  way,
 try  seperating  them  to  a  10g  tank  with  the  same  water  parameters,

 @kulsdood
 i  havent  tried  breeding  them  yet  as  my  hands  are  full  breeding  other  fishes,
 but  yeah  i  am  surely  planning  to  spawn  them  in  the  near  future,
 go  through  the  all  the  posts  in  this  topic,
 i  have  posted  the  conditions  in  which  my  neons  bred,
 if  you  have  any  problem  just  post  it  here  so  we  can  help  out,

 Hi!  mudassir,  My  black  neons  bread  in  my  planted  tank,  I  used  water  filtered  through  peat  and  the  next  day  when  the  early  morning  sunlight  falling  on  it  they  started  laying  the  eggs.  But  the  females  started  to  eat  their  own  eggs  as  soon  as  it  was  released.  The  males  tried  to  distract  them  but  females  they  were  very  fast.  So  it  is  better  to  have  bigger  males  than  females  as  males  can  fertilise  the  eggs  fast.  I  was  unable  to  raise  the  young  one,  tried  with  green  water,but  I  think  the  rotifers  in  the  green  water  dominated  the  fry.  The  new  hatched  young  fishes  are  like  glass  splinters.
 Best  of  luck  in  breeding  neon  tetra  and  please  post  the  results.
