 Blood  Parrots!
Many  consider  keeping  of  blood  parrots  as  un-ethical!  They  think  this  artificial  breed  faces  a  lot  of  pain  throughout  its  lifetime  because  of  some  anatomical  difficulties.
But  how  much  proven  is  this  fact?
There  are  also  many  old  hobbyist  who  simply  love  this  fish,  for  its  beautiful  looks  and  colours.  Demand  for  this  fish  is  still  increasing.
Whats  your  opinion  on  the  above  matter?
Do  you  support  the  keeping  of  Blood  Parrots?  Or  do  you  think  it  is  unethical?
And  finally  have  you  ever  kept  any  blood  parrots?  Whats  your  experience?

 For  me,

This  topic  will  be  debated  forever.
Many  people  have  there  own  point  of  views
and  as  you  know,  many  people  also  have  different
ideas  of  what  is  wrong  and  right.  Â I  dont  like  Blood  Parrots
because  i  feel  they  are  deformed.  Â But  I  also  see  it  this  way.

In  human  race,  people  also  mix  like  indian  x  american
or  chinese  x  american  or  philippino  x  german  and  etc.
some  people  will  produce  dwarf  in  there  offsprings  as  well
as  bisexual  and  other  genetic  based  issues.  Â Is  it  wrong  that
this  has  happened?  Â or  is  this  considered  natural  or  not?

I  feel  it  is  something  that  will  happen  no  matter  what  anyone
says  and  I  do  not  feel  it  is  my  duty  to  judge  another  person.
I  let  God  be  the  judge.  Â

I  also  feel  that  taking  care  of  a  deformed  animal  is  like  adopting
a  pet  to  take  care  of  it.  Â If  i  give  it  proper  care  and  treat  them
with  love,  I  feel  that  I  have  done  something  good.  Â If  I  know  someone
that  is  mistreating  a  pet,  then  I  feel  that  is  wrong.
Anyways,  this  topic  will  be  and  endless  discussion  because  everyone
 has  there  own  opinions.

I  accept  your  comment  James  there  will  be  no  end  for  such  discussion,  each  one  is  having  their  own  angle  of  view.

I  slightly  agree  with  James  as  long  as  point  of  artificial  breeding  is  concerned.  Even  his  fovourite  FHs  are  not  found  in  nature.

But  giving  pain  to  any  fish  by  tattoing  or  filling  colours  is  unethical.

BTW  This  thread  deserves  a  poll.  Wanna  add  Sandipan?  Confused

 Hi  sandipan,

Whats  your  opinion  on  the  above  matter?

 -  No  issues  only  concerns  and  hard  feelings  for  the  people
who  do  such  acts  for  the  sake  of  Vitamin  M.

Do  you  support  the  keeping  of  Blood  Parrots?  Or  do  you  think  it  is  unethical?

   -  if  you  like  the  fish,  keep  it  or  don't  bother.
Is  this  thread  to  start  an  argument  or  what  is  your  motive  behind
asking  these  questions  as  this  is  cichlid  forum  and  not  chitchat.

And  finally  have  you  ever  kept  any  blood  parrots?  Whats  your  experience?
 -  if  your  planning  to  have  these  in  your  tank  then  this  question  is  valid
 or  else  not  required.

 Hi  Tushar,
Its  really  nice  of  you,  that  you  remember  that  small  gesture  of  mine.
I  never  went  away  from  IAH.  Actually  in  a  span  of  two  months  my  company  transferred  me  twice.  Once  from  Kolkata  to  Chennai  and  then  back  from  Chennai  to  Kolkata.  This  is  why  i  was  not  posting  anything  on  IAH.  This  time  i  am  back  with  the  plan  of  setting  up  of  a  new  150gallon  tank.  Hope  you  will  help  me  in  that  regard.

I  agree  with  you  that  tattooing  or  dyeing  a  fish  is  highly  unethical  and  cruel.  But  What  about  parrots,  which  are  not  dyed  or  tattooed?  Do  u  think  we  are  doing  the  right  thing  by  breeding  this  not-found-in-nature  species?

And  yes  i  would  like  to  have  a  poll.  But  how  do  i  add  a  poll?  Admins  please  help.

 Sandeepan,

I  think  all  parrots  are  dyed.  And  breeding  them  is  not  possible  at  home  aquaria.

I  want  to  know  what  others  feel  about  this  topic.  I  wanted  to  know  others  views  so  that  i  can  broaden  my  knowledge  of  this  ethical  issue  of  keeping  parrots.  Why  do  you  feel  that  i  want  an  argument?  I  just  wanted  others  to  share  their  views.  Why  are  you  so  agitated?  Dan,  you  seem  to  be  a  senior  member  of  IAH.  But  your  way  of  writing  is  highly  un-IAH.  Your  way  of  speaking  is  not  only  disturbing  but  also  highly  offensive.

 Hi  Sandipan,

Sorry  that  you  felt  this  way.  As  they  say  perception  is  reality,  anyway,
all  I  was  pointing  out  was  you  could  have  posted  in  chitchat  if  you  are
 interested  in  opinions/poll  only.

About  getting  agitated  -  no  way  dude,  just  questioned  you,
if  you  are  interested  in  keeping  these  or  just  here  for  a  talk.
The  whole  point  being  when  you  know,  why  stir  an  unhealthy
 discussion.

un-IAH  way  -  that  is  something  new  to  me.

grow  up  dude,  understand  between  a  question  and
 an  offensive  statement.

Surely  I  am  growing  older  with  every  passing  day  and  also  with  every  reply  i  read,  like  the  one  above.  Chuckle   ROFL

Any  way  Dan,  no  hard  feelings.

And  yes,  i  am  very  much  interested  to  keep  parrots.  But  before  keeping  them,  i  want  to  be  very  much  clear  that  i  am  not  doing  anything  unethical.  I  am  building  a  new  tank  dedicated  just  to  parrots.   Because  i  think  they  look  really  beautiful.
