I  don't  know  y,  but  mulshi  doesn't  sound  good...  still,  we  could  give  it  a  try...  the  places  which  are  promising  in  mulshi  are  not  accessible  if  I'm  not  wrong...  (under  the  bridge,  upstream  towards  the  dam)

A  couple  of  weeks  ago  I  travelled  to  Nasik  and  I  kept  my  eyes  peeled  throughout  most  of  the  journey.
Just  before  Sangamner,  I  saw  this  huge  water  body  teeming  with  aquatic  plants.I  couldnt  make  out  what  were  those  but  I  am  sure  there  must  be  good  variety  of  fish  too.
Sangamner  is  140  kms  one  way  from  Pune.  Smile  far  eh?
 Also,
Ugam  had  mentioned  that  bhor  has  one  or  more  water  bodies.
Maybe  we  should  consider  exploring  that  side.

Rohan,  I  would  have  loved  to  document  all  my  fishing  excursions.  Most  of  them  were  in  Konkan(  especially  Ratnagiri  and  Raigad).  Sadly  I  never  owned  a  camera  as  a  teenager.
Have  you  guys  given  thought  to  collecting  in  tributaries  of  Ulhas  River  in  Karjat.  I  have  caught  quiet  a  few  varieties  of  gobies,  loaches  and  eels  in  those  flowing  waters.  But  back  then  internet  was  not  that  common  and  I  could  not  id  what  I  caught.  I  was  also  not  that  interested  in  knowing  their  scientific  names  then. There  are  also  a  few  promising  places  around  Bhor  ghat  and  around  Khandala.

 Good  morning  guys,
MAS  people  (from  Bombay)  have  collected  in  the  Ulhas  river...  We  could  contact  them  for  help  maybe?  Also  dont  mean  to  be  a  partyspoiler, but  no  long  trips  for  me  Right  now,ANYTIME  after  29th  december  Rock On  The  Malabar  danio(devario  malabaricus)  they  have  caught  there, looks  REALLY  AWESOME!!
And  yeah  since  we  are  getting  such  a  nice  response  for  these  trips, maybe  its  time  for  a  long  trip  Smile
Bhor  Ghat,Karjat,Khandala  sound  promising...  Im  not  sure  about  Lonavla, unless  we  know  some  specific  location...  Maybe  we  have  a  chance  of  getting  different  varieties  due  to  temperature  variations?
And  here  is  a  link  to  MAS's  collection  trip  to  Ulhas  river, for  those  who  havent  read  it  Smile

 Humaid
I  really  liked  that  Malabar  Danio....  With  Bhor,i  guess  we  could  do  the  trip  on  bikes  in  a  single  day?  And  bhor  is  near  Shirwal, taking  the  exit  off  NH4,from  shirwal...  Bhushan  could  you  please  specify  the  location  of  the  exact  site  where  you  had  collected?

Shubhankar,  i  don't  know  the  exact  name  of  the  places.  These  were  generally  small  streams  and  ponds  along  the  road  to  Bhor  mostly  after  monsoons.  They  where  a  great  place  to  catch  small  shrimps,  which  today  I  would  mostly  identify  as  caridina  sp.  These  shrimps  were  small  about  1"  dark  brown  with  a  thin  cream  colored  band  running  along  the  body.  By  tributaries  of  Ulhas  I  meant  Bhivpuri  River.  The  construction  of  dam  upstream  has  affected  the  fauna  quiet  a  bit  but  you  still  have  flowing  water  all  year  round.  This  is  where  I  collected  the  loaches,  eels  and  gobies.

 Thanks
 Bhushan
