i  have  two  269  liter  round  cement  tanks  with  me  !
And  from  what  i  learned  from  the  topics  here  ,  epoxy  paint  is  a  good  pond  sealant!

 radius  24inches
 height  9  inches

So  how  much  Epoxy  paint  would  i  require  and  can  you  tell  me  a  price  estimate  !

 Hi  Jithu,

Are  the  tanks  leaking  by  any  chance?  If  they  are  not  leaking,  you  can  just  use  them  as  it  is.

But  while  i  was  in  another  aquarium  site,  everybody  in  there  adviced  me  to  seal  the  pond  using  a  good  pond  sealer  or  some  kind  of  chemicals  will  leach  from  the  cement  and  kill  my  fishes  !

All  the  big  farms  using  cement  tank  only.  so  not  at  all  a  problem.if  the  tank  is  very  fresh  fill  it  with  water  and  kept  it  for  10  days  .empty  the  water  after  10  days,  add  new  water  kept  it  for  3  days  and  introduce  your  fishes  .

Yes,  do  it  as  Ravi  says  above.

I  have  kept  many  fish  of  varying  hardiness  in  cement  tanks,  without  any  problems.  I  only  used  to  be  concerned  about  the  tanks  for  marine  use.  Will  be  giving  it  a  trial  very  soon.

Range  of  waterproofing  products  from  Dr  Fixit.  I  believe  they  have  one  specifically  for  cement  tanks  and  even  swimming  pools.  You  can  email  or  call  them  to  find  out  about  their  inertness.  Link  below.

Ok  well  there  is  a  twist  to  the  whole  thing  !
I  had  around  15  gold  fish  in  one  of  my  cement  tanks,  they  all  caught  fish  lice  and  died  so  i  cleaned  the  tank  using  bleach(after  reading  about  it  somewhere)
I  used  tarpaulin  as  a  pond  liner  while  i  was  having  those  fishes,
While  i  was  in  another  forum  i  discussed  about  this  and  they  said  a  portion  of  the  bleach  would  have  soaked  into  the  cement  walls  and  would  leach  back  eventually  !
How  do  i  take  care  of  this  and  the  tarpaulin  which  i  used  earlier,  now  has  lots  of  tiny  holes  so  can't  use  it  anymore  and  hence  i  would  have  to  go  for  bear  cement  tank  setup  !
So  i  need  your  opinions  on  the  bleach  scenario  !

I  feel  the  best  is  to  leave  the  fishes  in  a  normal  cement  tank  without  any  epoxy  or  chemicals.  If  the  tank  has  developed  a  leak  then  the  best  solution  would  be  to  chip  the  sides  of  the  tank  around  the  leak  and  plaster  the  same  with  good  53  grade  cement(  without  and  sand  mix).  Cure  it  for  two  days.  To  tackle  the  problem  of  cement  leeching,  you  can  prepare  some  cowdung  slurry  and  fill  it  in  the  tank  and  leave  it  for  a  couple  of  days  before  cleaning  the  tank  again  and  using  it  for  keeping  fishes.

Using  a  tarpaulin  as  a  liner  in  a  cement  tank  is  not  a  good  idea  at  all  as  its  just  a  waste  of  money  and  will  not  serve  any  purpose  in  the  long  run.  There  are  many  liners  that  are  available  for  large  manmade  ponds  that  are  excavated  and  soil  is  used  as  bunds.  These  again  will  not  serve  any  purpose  in  small  tanks.
