 Abhi  ,

GH  is  nothing  but  general  hardness  of  water  ,  that  is  dissolved  minerals  &  Salts  in  water  .  GH  reading  will  be  on  higher  side  when  the  water  is  hard  .

GH  anything  around  10  means  water  is  soft  and  is  good  for  Discus  ,  GH  of  12  and  above  becomes  slightly  higher  .  Discus  can  be  kept  in  GH  of  3  to  20  ,  but  with  higher  GH  breeding  may  be  a  problem  .When  water  is  hard  sperms  will  not  enters  the  eggs  hence  eggs  will  not  get  fertilize  .

 Cheers
 Shiva

 Hi,  all  of  you

I  have  not  been  able  to  read  all  these  pages,  but  the  first  one,  and  I  wanted  to  ask  Abhis:

How  many  times  do  you  feed  your  baby  discus  each  day?  And  before  you  answer,  ask  yoiur  mother,  or  wife,  how  many  times  they  feed  (or  have  fed)  their  babies  every  day?  Than  you  have  the  answer  why  your  discus  are  not  growing  as  they  should...

I  hold  lectures  and  seminars  around  the  world  (this  year  alone  more  than  40)  about  aquatics,  discus  and  many  (most  of  the  other)  ornamental  fishes.  And  I  always  say  at  the  end:  "Thing  fish".  That  is  all  you  need  to  understnd  your  fishes  and  also  their  biology  and  behaviour.

I  am  mentioning  this,  as  from  what  I  saw,  no  one  told  you  this,  that  you  just  do  not  feed  tour  fishes  enough  each  day  for  them  to  grow.  Please  also  read  my  lessons  on  www.discuspassion.net:
 http://www.discuspassion.net/heiko-bleher%3a-interventi/heiko-bleher%3a-interventi/

and  note  each  lesson  is  in  English  and  in  Italian,  tkae  the  English  one...

 Bets  regards  from  a  collector

 Hi  Heiko,

Thanks  a  lot  for  your  valuable  comments.  I  feel  great  that  when  I  go  through  your  message.

Well  I  can  tell  u  that  I  feed  my  Discus  3  times  a  day.

All  are  5  month  old.  I  have  2  Tank.

 1st  one  54"x18"x18"  -  13  Discuss.  Among  of  them  3  are  2.5"  ,  1  is  3"  and  rest  are  more  than  4".

2nd  one  26"x18"x15"  -  4  Discuss.  All  are  2.5".  Previously  these  are  also  in  my  big  tank
but  I  transfer  them  due  to  size  problem.  One  of  them  already  4  months  old.

Last  few  years  I  am  keeping  the  Discus,  but  what  I  have  seen  this  is  the  trend  of  them.
If  I  keep  four  Discus  obviously  3  become  bigger  and  other  one  remain  same  size  or  little  big.  (MAY  BE  I  AM  WRONG  BUT  THIS  IS  MY  EXPERIENCE)

Note:  I  have  seen  your  website  and  there  are  lot  of  lessons.  They  are  really  superb  but  it  will  take  time  to  go  through  all  of  this.  I  will  read  all  but  for  time  being  can  u  tell  me  in  which  lesson  u  mention  about  feeding  !!

 With  Best  regards
