hii
is sodium thio sulphate is useful for removing chloring from planted tank?does its have any adverse effects on plants or we can use it carefree.most of the anti chlorine which are availble in market have hypo as its main ingredient.

as much as i know Sod. thiosulphate is a very active and photo-sensitive compound. Sodium thiosulfate will detoxify chlorine but will not detoxify polychlorophenols or chloramins . Sodium thiosulfate is a
substance that itself is rather easily oxidized by mere exposing to light. So only halides or such highly ionic compounds can react with it. If your water has ONLY chlorine then you can use Thio but chlroine in chloramine form is more harmful to fish which will NOT be removed by it. I dont know how harmful chloramine is for plants but about fishes i am sure.. so using commercial dechlorinators are safer in my opinion |

Thanx for your input but i am least concern for the fishes.my worries is with the plants only.is it harmful for plants or not ?? |

You can use TETRA AquaSafe or OCEAN FREE Anti Chlorine. |

Another safe option is Rid-all de-chlorinator. I find it very useful

Abhi,
If you are worried about Fishes or if the tank is planted less, then u can use Sodiumthiosulphate , otherwise there is no need for it in a Planted Tank if your tank is planted fully..

well i am sure that this melting has started after the use of anti chlorine.

well i was having one crowntail in my tank now she is gone so i will not use it again.  |
