See... I have replied
IMHO its better that the seniors (seniority in hobby and not IAH) don't post in each and every post. Its better to let others respond and only come into the picture when some wrong advice has been posted.
Thanks, Beta. You were the originator of this thread with your suggestion of seeing the world from the eyes of other people. We tend to forget that we were also there once!

Fantastic thread, Nayak.
Reminds all the flashback I went across, first as a newbie to the city and mainly, as I was new to online communities of any sort. I became a member somewhere towards the end of 2003, but my first (somewhat hesitant) post was almost after 6 long months, as to where would my childish comments stand among the older members. Ever since, have been logging in almost 300+ out of 365 days through various internet centres until middle of 2008.
Now that I got the internet at home, what else can I say?
Sorry for the mini hijack, mate.
Thanks, Shankar Sir. I bet you do have some interesting experiences of your own. Please post if possible.I will really need a lot of help from you when I go Marine

Hey don't call me Sir. My ration card just reads Shankar. : )
Well, I have been so transparently posting all my 'childhood deeds', but scattered across various threads. You guys are only yet to see my planted setup.

Thanks, Gokul. You are one of the person who were witness to the amazing patience of one of our Admins when he talks about fishkeeping with a relative Newbie.

THE OLDER NEWBIE, Now that is intresting.
For someone in the hobby for many years now and to sitll call himself an Older Newbie is being modest, Thanks To you being a newbie sounds good, prestigious infact.
Thanks, Mayur.

I believe Trevor has not told the whole story as he had mentioned it to me the other day. Typing such a long post is really tiresome and he missed another section alltogether.

The long post ‘A day in the life of an active Admin’ on this thread is satirical.
It has been condensed from a couple of normal days.
All the questions and all the incidents are genuine and have happened almost identical to the way I have depicted it.
But to be sure many of the questions I got from our newbies were intelligent and had me stumped.
That made me run back to the drawing board and relearn quite a few things.
This counseling and giving of information has never been a one-way street.
I have learnt a lot from the newbies and it has always been a two way learning process.
I wish to apologize to the many e-mails and PM’s I have not replied to from ‘IAH’ians. I hope you guys understand.

Continued........
We have covered The Newbie, The older Newbie, The Senior, The Moderator and The Admin.
Have we forgotten someone?
yes, The Guest.
Now why guests? Mainly because
a) They have just found IAH on the net and are checking around.
b) They are Members on IAH. But since they have nothing to post or are plain lazy, have not logged on.
c) They are Newbie members on IAH. They have just posted their first post and are lurking to find if any one has replied, without their name being in members on line section.
d) They are Newbie/members on IAH. They have just started their new thread and are lurking to find if any one has replied, without their name being in members on line section.
e) They are members on IAH. They have just flamed at someone and are lurking to find if any one has replied, without their name being in members on line section.
f) They are members on IAH. They have been disgraced(Imaginary or real) in the past and are lurking on IAH, Because IAH dies hard on you.
g) The Ghost writers. They write for members on IAH who have poor English and lurk to check the replies. They mainly do that when they have entered their own agenda in the post of the member with poor English . Any dispute between the ghost member and the member with poor English, and the poor English comes back.
And the entire Gamut of IAH family has been covered!
This January 25th it will be 4 years since I have been part of this wonderful family of IAH. Except for the break during server problems or my shifting my factory causing disruption of my NET facility I have always been there. And as I have mentioned in another thread I have been helped immensely.
In these years there have also seen some funny threads
1) Arpan L B teaching us about the bacteria factories in the underground bore well water.
2) Supershaji wanting to peddle his pussy cats. He would have liked IAH to change to IPCH(Indian pussy hobbyists)
3) The advanced fishkeeping skills of Aidscontrol! He wanted to keep his fishes in Chinese soup, Vinegar and everything.
In all these four years the Admins have handled these situations extremely well. There has been no change in the basic ethos of the Admins in these four years. It was always constant! If it should not be done, it should not be done, period. And this has been adhered to without favour nor fear.
Being there for four years and having a thorough understanding of what IAH stands for, the Older Newbies have not kept to the high standards of IAH. In a moment of weakness they have flammed on IAH causing the Founder of IAH to come and apologise for their deeds. This then was the main crux of this story. Having known the Admins personally and through actions the older Newbies brought distress to a lot of seniors. The Older Newbies should be ashamed of themselves and should seek Apology with the Founder.
But wait a minute. IAH has only designations of Newbie, Senior, Mods and Admins. Now who are or is this Older Newbie? Why? It is only ME!
Sorry, Ravi.
Uhhh, have I mentioned
All this happened in time long long ago and in a Galaxy far far away.

anyway.. thanks again nayak... thanks to you.. a lot of us could hope to walk the right path and watch our backs at the same time here on IAH ;)
