Here  is  my  Glosso  Tank  which  I  have  started  in  Jan  09.  Plants  are  Glosso,  H  Verticiliata  (??)  and  Blyxa.

This  is  a  tank  with  three  side  view.  Hope  the  front  portion  will  be  filled  up  by  the  end  of  this  month.

 Regards

 Nice  tank  dude   Smile
I  believe  you  have  overall  low  light  in  the  tank..  or  maybe  your  photoperiod  is  less  than  what  is  required..
If  you  have  set  this  up  in  Jan  09,  by  this  time  Blyxa  should  have  grown  good...

 What  is  the  filtration,  CO2??

 Regards
 Subhankar

This  is  approx  120  Liters  tank.  Light  is  110  W  PLL  (Osram  2  x  55).

I  tried  with  mineralised  soil  substrate  with  regular  sand  gravels  on  top,  however  I  did  not  experience  any  advantages  of  mineralised  soil  substrate.

I  am  regularly  dosing  fertiliser  NPK  thru  water  colum.  K  =15  ppm,  NO3  =  2-3  ppm.  Phosphate  I  stopped  dosing  off  late  due  to  staghorn  algae  problem.

Yes  Blyxa  have  not  grown  that  expected,  but  IMO,  blyxa  needs  somewhat  mature  bed.  In  a  newly  establised  tank,  Blyxa  is  little  hesitant.

CO2  is  pressuriesed  thru  DIY  reactor.  One  bubble  in  a  second.

Photoperiod  is  8  hours,  but  Glossos  are  growing  upwards  just  out  of  competition   Very Happy  .

 Regards

I  guess  the  Glosso  on  the  right  side  of  your  tank  aren't  getting  enough  light

 Hi  rana

This  one  has  all  the  making  of  a  good  looker!!!
BTW  I  am  confused  the  glosso  normally  grows  upward  when  light  is  insufficent, but  with  two  55W  PLLs  i  dont  see  a  lack  of  light.  How  old  is  this  setup?  Whats  the  height  of  the  tank?  Look  into  the  CO2  aswell....If  you  feel  the  need  to  better  the  light  use  aluminium  mirror  reflectors  it  helps  a  lot.

 Harshal

Light  is  not  a  problem  at  all.  Over  all  Glossos  are  growing  horizentally  except  few,  this  could  be  due  to

1>  I  put  off  lights  at  noon  from  2.00  pm  to  5.00  pm.  Otherwise  I  can  not  control  heat.
2>  At  the  rear  portion,  the  glossos  are  jam-packed  they  do  not  have  space  to  grow  horizentally.

Tank  height  is  16  inches  only.

 Swapnil

I  could  not  find  larger  rocks  than  these.  Sad

But,  I  used  mineralised  soil  substrate  in  this  tank,  that  was  a  total  failure.  For  growth  I  am  totally  depending  on  water  colun  fert.

 Regards

 Here  is  update  this  week.

The  Glosso  covered  the   front  portion  almost  60%,  but  the  growth  is  not  that  compact.  New  leaves  are  apearing  whitish  with  midrib  green.  Could  be  iron  defficiency  but  I  am  dosing  sufficient  iron.  So  I  will  reduce  the  water  hardness  from  80  ppm  to  65  ppm  to  see  if  there  is  any  improvement.

Water  temperature  has  increased  to  31  degrees  in  afternoon.  Sad  BBA  has  got  few  leaves  affected.  Here  are  pictures

 Regards
