Well  finally  redid  the  tank  with  Dow  Cornings  SR  995  ┬áblack  silicon.

The  bottom  layer  of  substrate  went  in  today.

It's  a  mixture  of  laterite,  sphagnum  peat  moss,  bone  meal,  hydrated  lime,  Pot.  humate,  Pot  Fulvate,  3-indolacetic  acid,  KNO3,  micros,
a  bit  of  old  Amazonia  to  seed  bacteria,  and  laterite  gravel.  The  laterite  gravel  was  given  to  me  by  Niranjan  from  his  farm,  all  sieved  and  graded  to  2-3  mm  size  and  in  large  enough  quantity.  Thanks  a  lot  Niranjan.  I  owe  you  for  this.

I  call  this  substrate  "Devanahalli  Magic".
"Devanahalli"  near  Bangalore  from  where  the  laterite  comes  and  the  "Magic"  is  for  a  big  reduction  in  my  headache  regarding  dosing.

The  Devanahalli  Magic  makes  up  about  1  inch  of  the  bottom.  The  rest  is  yet  to  go  into  The  Carribean.

I  have  already  setup  another  tank  "Devanahalli"  meaning  God's  Own  Village  with  this  substrate.

It's  been  up  4  days  now  and  fish  are  doing  real  well  in  there.  That's  a  separate  thread  anyways.  Very Happy

 Madan
Your  substrate  recipie  sounds  like  a  recipie  from  Druid  Getafix  from  "Asterix  &  Obelix",  it  only  needs  toad  legs  &  newt  wings   Very Happy
Just  waiting  to  see  the  results  down  the  line,  hope  you  have  it  written  it  down  somewhere.
It  does  sound  like  a  complete  substrate.  Thumb Up

So  the  seaved  laterite  will  be  going  over  the  "Devanahalli  Magic"  ?

If  so,  will  that  not  leech  too  many  nutrients  into  the  water  column?
