I  want  to  have  a  peaceful  community  of  large  fishes  in  my  150  gallon  tank.  When  I  say  large,  im  looking  at  6  inches  to  8  inches  max.

Following  are  the  fishes  I  have  right  now  in  this  tank:

 1)  5  gold  fish,  out  of  which  I  will  retain  only  2  wild  copper  goldfish  which  look  more  like  barbs.
 2)  3  juvenile  Clown  loaches.  (I  Intend  on  adding  more)
 3)  2  banded  creek  loaches  -  schistura  beavani(One  would  be  given  away  to  my  friend  soon.  Both  together  keep  fighting  with  each  other)
 4)  2  Golden  Siamese  algae  eaters  -  Will  be  given  away  when  they  grow  a  bit  bigger,  as  they  get  too  aggressive.
 5)  2  juvenile  Albino  Bristlenose  plecos
 6)  4  juvenile  Angel  fish
 7)  2  Juvenile  white  severums
 Cool  6  Bosemani  Rainbows

 Questions:
 1)Is  my  above  combination  OK?
 2)  Please  suggest  some  other  fish  I  can  add  or  replace  with  existing  fishes.  Getting  good  looking  and  colorful  peaceful  community  fish  is  turning  out  to  be  a  challenge...

i  would  say  replace  severums.  they  grow  big..  real  big..  and  angels  and  goldfishes  would  be  definately  harmed  by  them  soon

i  dont  think  you  can  keep  goldfishes  and  angels  together  as  goldfishes  are  cold  water  fishes  and  angels  need  a  warm  water.  same  goes  for  the  pleco  and  the  severum.  if  you  remove  the  gold  fish  than  the  rest  are  fine  i  think.  some  more  experienced  hobbyist  will  help  you  too

 @  mithun

Yeah,  i  had  doubts  regarding  the  severum.

I  think  they  will  grow  to  around  8  inches,  which  is  OK.  But  would  full  grown  angels  (5  inchers)  be  able  to  stand  up  to  full  grow  angels?

 @  rameez,

Why  cant  plecos  and  severums  go  together?

the  point  of  not  having  cold  water  and  hot  water  fish  together  is  not  vaild  in  most  aquaria  we  keep  at  our  homes  becoz  indian  plane  lands  we  generally  dont  use  chiller  or  heater  in  fresh  water  tanks  other  than  winters..  most  goldfish  keepers  would  not  add  any  chiller  and  most  angel  keepers  wont  add  any  heater  other  than  winter..  so  it  does  not  matter  practically  if  we  mix  cold  and  hot  water  fishes  together..  in  countries  like  UK/US/China  etc  it  matters  as  they  HAVE  TO  USE  HEATER  MOST  OF  THE  TIME  OF  THE  YEAR.  tell  me  honestly  have  u  seen  any  chiller  in  goldfish  tanks  anywhere  in  India?  normal  room  temp  goes  fine  with  both  of  the  species  in  India.

But  issue  of  severum  becoming  quite  big  will  be  a  big  issue  ..  not  only  becoz  of  the  total  biomass  of  goldies  and  severum  but  also  the  quite  aggressive  n  territorial  nature  of  adult  severums..  you  wont  want  your  angels  and  goldies  into  trouble  would  u?  they  becomes  very  very  aggressive  during  mating  too..  so  better  keep  it  away  from  them

I  agree  with  Mithunda.  Many  of  the  generalized  rules  in  the  hobby  start  from  the  colder  european  nations.  With  India  being  more  temperate,  not  all  the  rules  would  really  be  applicable  except  in  places  where  there  are  major  temperature  fluctuations.  I  for  one  have  no  use  for  heaters  in  my  tank  here  in  chennai  weather,  and  I  do  not  use  any  chillers  either.  So  both  fish  sit  very  well  together  in  the  same  tank.

 Yeah,  i  agree  too...

Gold  fish  are  cold  water  fish,  but  they  can  tolerate  a  large  range  of  temperatures.  You  can  see  them  in  ponds  in  a  scorching  afternoon  in  california,  as  well  as  chilling  nights  in  northern  china.

And  since  India  is  a  tropical  country,  the  use  of  chillers/heaters  etc.  is  not  so  applicable,  unless  the  fish  in  question  are  really  delicate.

Coming  back  to  the  topic  of  aggresive  severums,  I  thought  that  these  guys  were  comparatively  peaceful.  They  are  also  know  as  poor  mans  discus,  you  see.  Anyways,  ill  remove  them  out  of  the  tank  when  they  grow  a  bit  larger.

Planning  to  turn  my  tank  into  a  clown  loach  biotope.  Any  suggestions  ideas  regarding  tank  mates  and  decor?

Right  now  my  5  Clown  loaches  have  2  zebra  loaches  and  2  banded  creek  loaches  as  companions  at  the  bottom.  My  Bosemani  rainbows  also  should  go  fine  with  the  loaches.

Mithunda  ,  it  would  be  really  nice  if  you  stop  using  SMS  type  writing  style  (  because,u,al  rite  etc)

The  forum  guidelines  forbid  us  to  do  so..

i  dont  really  understand  how  you  cannot  add  heater  to  your  water  in  summer.i  live  in  dubai  and  i  dont  think  it  gets  hotter  in  india  than  dubai.  even  durring  50  degrees  of  summer  days  my  aquarium  water  is  cold  and  i  need  to  add  a  heater.its  logical  that  if  u  leave  water  for  a  period  of  time  it  will  cool  down.  cooling  water  in  summer  is  not  that  big  a  problem  but  the  water  just  wont  heat  up  on  its  own  i  guess.
