Hi you got a nice looking guy. As Headbanger already said it belongs to ZZ gene. I think it is Kamalau. It appears so from the shape of its mouth. Feed it plenty of shrimps (freeze dried) and blood worms to begin with. Although Headbanger will not agree with me feed him with XO Redy Sync and Humpy head. The other alternative is feed him with Chingmix and Grand Sumo it you can lay your hands on them in India. Do a 40-50% water change every week and give good filteration.
Good luck |

Currently he placed 25g tank along with 2 bala shark & 2 suckers. I am planning for new tank for him within few days, since he has already destroyed 3 goldfish's & i dont the same to happen with other tank mates.

Swapnil S,
IMO the tanks size is very small and also requesting you to have a bb tank if possible for at least one year once he is grown then you can add the decor.
well its just a suggestion.

why does it require a bare bottom,
any cichlid requires a nice set of decor for it to keep redecorating. |

headbanger,
I am sure that you are aware that the FH will eat lots of food and grow as well.
and I am also aware that if you want the Fh to grow you need to clean the tank daily and do a 20 % wc for at least one year by doing so the fh wil be happy and so will you.
well now comming to your question why BB well its always easy to clean the tank of the dirt that get collected at the bottom.
i have kept my fh in Bb since one year now.
regards,
Clive |

I agree with Clive. In growing stage FH eat a lot and poo a lot so I think a BB tank is the best option till he grows out at respectable 4" or above. Also take away the sharks and other fishes from the tank as sooner or later there is going to be bloodshed. FH are known for their aggresivness.
Good luck |
