Im Dinesh Maskeri a doctor from Mumbai. I consult in Pondicherry for 10 days a month and Im supposed to be in Mumbai for the rest of the month. im also passionately involved with photography, travel & my bullet (royal enfield)
I maintained planted aquaria (5 of them) as a medical college student between 1987 & 1991. Then setting up my career took over and there was NO activity till about 3 years ago.
Now I have a 150 (w) x 45 (d) x 75 (h) cms tank (I know the height is too much and regret the design). I like to keep loaches and tetras & im just beginning to appreciate rainbows. there is about 3-4 inches of river sand at the base (also probably another error since i have to aerate it every once in a while with a probe). lighting is in the form of a single hitachi tube and 4 CFLs. filtration is by 2 eheim 2217s (got these a little cheaper so i picked them up in preparation for the next tank). lights are on timers (6 hours a day). 2 fans in the hood maintain air circulation and prevent fogging up of the hoods underside. used to have a co2 connection with a ceramic dispenser but removed it since i was growing too much algae. after aquatika 2009 i plan to put in several more plants to help rid me of the moderate algae population i have.
Loaches: yoyo, zebra, kuhli, clown, hill-stream, native
Tetras: lemon, copper, veil tailed serpae,
Barbs: torpedo (denisonii), cherry
Angels: Blue and albino diamond
Panchax: yellow and blue
Feather fin squeakers
few assorted rainbows
otos & chinese algae eaters
the count might be too much for now but i intend to get the next tank soon. feeding is really minimal at 2 feeds a day but nothing is left in the tank 10 minutes after a feed. ground feeders surface for food and i put in a few sinking pellets for them for the night.
i guess that is enough about my tank and myself.
im hoping to learn a lot here from the experts around, unfortunately i dont get too much time for R&D. anyway, its good to be here and im still going through the forums before i post anything.
