Soon  soon.  Pics  are  not  with  me.  And  I  know  what  exactly  s  gonna  happen  with  the  pics  Ashwin  clicked.  They  l  never  see  the  light  of  day.

The  Mudskippers  didn  last  the  journey  Hayath.  They  were  about  an  inch  in  length.  Poor  buggers  were  gone  by  the  time  we  reached.

Mudskippers  need  to  come  up  for  air,  very  critical  to  provide  some  floating  object  when  transporting  them.  (I  had  used  a  can's  top  when  bringing  mine  from  Karwar)

Even  in  the  wild,  they  spend  more  time  outside  water  than  in  it.

Ok  guys,  finally  uploaded  some  pics...sorry  about  the  delay.   Smile

Now,  there  are  very  few  pics  of  fish  that  I  had  taken...they  just  didn't  come  out  well  in  my  camera.  I  think  Raghu  may  have  got  some  good  ones  in  the  photography  tank.

 Here  you  go:

En  route  to  the  first  collection  spot-  the  lake  at  Kaliveli,  right  beside  salt  pans.

 More  to  follow.

No  pics  of  mine  from  the  second  spot-  I  was  busy  taking  a  much-needed  nap  in  the  car!   Very Happy

Some  pics  from  the  last  collection  spot,  where  we  had  much  more  success  than  the  first  two.  Lovely  spot,  although  two  of  our  gang  unfortunately  managed  to  find  the  exact  same  spot  where  I  had  observed  PMDD  contributions  being  made  a  little  while  earlier.  I  spotted  at  least  one  local  who  seemed  a  bit  peeved  that  these  intrepid  fish-hunters  had  taken  over  their  favourite  spot!

 We  spotted  X.  cancila  here.

A  brief  description  on  the  trip  -   Kindly  excuse  us  for  the  delay.

The  wake  up  calls  started  flowing  at  2:30  AM  ,  18th  July  Saturday.  Shankar  and  Muthu  came  near  my  house  and  we  headed  on  to  Balaji's  house.  We  got  a  'MAY  DAY'  call  from  Balaji  that  few  (female)  dogs  were  chasing  him  and  had  to  rush  to  his  place.  We
then  headed  to  Sai's  house  and  picked  up  Sai  and  Raghu.  As  usual  our  moss-guy  shopped  for  cigaretts  and  emptied  couple  of
shops  on  the  way.  We  reached  Ashwins  house  around  3:45  AM.  As  we  were  only  8  members,  we  deceided  to  park  my  car  at  Ashwin's  place  and  head  to  Pondy  on  his  Tavera.  This  time  around  Balaji  escaped  from  Mohan  songs.  We  picked  Abishek  on  the  way.

The  team  -  From  left  to  right  -  Abishek,  Prasoon,  Ashwin,  Shankar,  Muthu,  Balaji.  Not  on  the  pic  -  Raghu  behind  camera,  Sai  again  shopping  for  cigarette

First  spot  -  Adayalacherry  -  on  the  way  to  Pondy.

We  found  lots  of  PMDD  and  water  was  bit  murky.  Rejected  the  spot  and  we  headed  on.  We  found  a  beautiful  flowered  cactii  here,  check  for  that  in  Ashwins  list.

Raghu  seems  very  good  with  his  Nikon

Second  Spot  -  Kaliveli  Estuary10  KMs  before  Pondy.

We  had  to  walk  through  salt  pans  to  reach  the  Estuary.  The  whole  area  looked  very  promising.  Krishna  joined  us  from  here.

Well,  not  really.  The  whole  area  was  covered  with  mud  and  my  leg  got  trapped.  That's  me  and  Balaji  trying  to  retrieve  my  slipper.

Abishek  trying  with  all  his  might  to  pull  put  the  slipper.  This  guy  was  loating  over  the  mud!

Shankar  caught  a  few  gobies  and  mud  skippers  from  these  locations.

These  flora  were  growing  among  the  mangroves

We  saw  lots  and  lots  of  brine  shrimps  on  these  salt  pans.  Check  out  for  brine  shrimp  eggs  in  this  snap

We  had  to  ditch  Kaliveli  and  bid  adeu  to  this  place.

All  of  us  were  damn  hungry  and  we  headed  on  to  this  road  side  shop.

 Chai  chai  chai

 Team  relaxing  a  bit

 Third  Spot  -  Chunnambar

We  then  headed  to  Chunnambar  to  meet  Mr.Thomas.  Thomas  runs  an  orphanage  and  also  a  fish  farm  and  plant  farm.

He  walked  us  through  his  farm  and  explained  us  on  the  fauna  and  flora  he  had.  He  had  a  good  collection  of  orchids.

 oops!

Few  more  from  his  plant  farm

Few  pics  from  his  fish  farm

This  river  was  behind  his  orphanage.

The  river  was  a  bit  deep  and  Could  not  do  much  fishing  here

Moss  guy  trying  cliff  hanger  stuff

 From  left  to  right
Ashwin,  Abishek,  Muthu,  Sai,  Prasoon,  Thomas,  Maran  (Thomas's  son  in  law),  Raghu,  Balaji,  Shankar,  Krishna
