I have just started out with a planted tank. I have a 60 X 24 X 24 tank with 2 MH fittings. I would be grateful if you guys could suggest the basics of a planted tank i.e. lighting, filteration, CO2, fertilisers, control of algae etc. Like you could give the roles of the above i.e. why filteration is needed, role of CO2, minimum light required, role of fertilisers, substrate selection etc. I had posted a private message to Madan but did not get any reply. The above information will be helpful to everyone who wants to start a planted tank.
I would suggest you go through all the topics under "Aquatic Plants and Planted Aquaria" in the Forums menu. There is almost no stone uncovered on planted aquaria with many interesting links to very informative sites. I started my planted tank 2 months ago with great help from this site, esp. Beta, Venket, Ravi and Madan and of course, many others with useful contributions. I would also suggest plenty of patient reading, followed by specific questions to the experts and you will get a great start. Best of luck.
I have replied to your Private mail and suggested to read all the
topics on Planted Aquaria and to come out withspecific clarification
so that when you get replies you may be able to understand what
the experts like Madan,Ravi,Beta and Venkat will exchange their
views on specific doubts raised by the Members. Have started like
what Have suggested to you.Cheer up .
