Can  anyone  tell  me  where  do  I  get  Aragonite  or  white  sugar  sand  in  Chennai  as  a  substrate  for  cichlid  tank?

You  get  Aragonite  at  Aquastarr,  Kolathur.  Using  Aragonite  in  a  cichlid  tank  is  overkill.  Use  a  thin  layer  of  well  washed  sea  sand  instead.

Yes!  If  somebody  is  using  aragonite  in  a  soft  water  setup,  I  have  to  doubt  their  sanity.

Very Happy  Well  said  Beta  Sir.I  shall  then  really  go  for  sea  sand  as  you  have  mentioned.
Chuckle  Tirthada, after  my  visit  to  Shanar  sir's  farm,I  am  addicted  to  Geos. So  looking  to  go  for  a  setup  for  the  earth  eaters  although  I  may  even  swing  towards  tangs  if  they  are  unavailable......Its  the  beauty  of  the  hobby  that  maes  you  swing  from  one  setup  to  another  in  a  couple  of  days...  Chuckle   Chuckle

@Rockyda,Unni...well  I  wasn't  unhappy  with  the  planted  tank. But  always  had  a  long  list  of  dream  fishes  in  my  mind. And  after  going  through  Beta  sir's  DIY  Fishroom  pics  and  a  visit  to  Shankar  sir's  farm, the  wish  was  too  irresistable  to  control. Its  a  long  list  ,  don't  think  can  have  all  of  them  in  one  lifetime....  Chuckle
1.A  SA  tank  for  the  geophagus  red  head  tapajos.
2.A  CA  tank  for  Hysophrys  Nicaraguense.
3.A  species  tank  for  Calvus  and  Compressips
And  so  the  list  continues. So  have  decided  to  give  a  start  to  my  dream  tank. But  my  flat  owner  has  ruined  it  all.He  doesn't  allow  me  to  have  a  4  or  5  footer  in  the  flat. So  I  guess  have  to  be  contended  with  my  small  3  footer.
As  of  now  plan  to  have  5  geophagus  red  head  tapajos  and  then  in  the  long  run  have  only  a  pair  of  them  (if  they  do  form  pair).
Lets  see  how  the  plan  goes.

Abhisek...  it's  always  nice  to  go  with  the  dreams.  But  whatever  you  do...  stick  to  it.  impulsive  decision  is  not  the  way  to  grow  in  this  hobby.  Stick  to  any  of  the  setups  and  gain  enough  knowledge  out  of  it.  Then  move  into  another.  You  are  lucky  to  have  aquarists  like  Beta  and  Shankar  to  guide  you.  So  make  the  most  out  of  it.   Thumb Up

Yes  Tirthada, you  are  perfectly  right. But  seeing  so  many  of  my  dream  fishes  round  here  I  tend  to  become  impulsive.Anyways  as  of  now  have  decided  to  stick  to  SA   theme  .Lets  see  how  it  goes  and  truely  even  I  hate  to  be  that  impulsive. But  afterall  its  human  nature.  Very Happy   Very Happy
