 Got  a  couple  of  Channa  Aurantimaculata.  And  now  that  I  had  them  wanted  to  ensure  they  get  the  best  possible  setup.

 Read  up  a  bit  and  after  discussions  with  a  few  experts  in  the  field,  decided  on  giving  them  a  "planted"  setup  to  provide  enough  "optical  barriers"

 Spoke  to  mom  and  talked  her  into  letting  the  African  cichlids  move  out.  She  had  interacted  with  my  previous  auranti  and  was  quite  willing  to  have  them  in  the  hall  Wink
 This  was  the  hall  tank  that  would  be  transformed  Smile

 Had  to  give  the  Aurantis  enough  cover  in  terms  of  hiding  space,  so  had  to  incorporate  rocks  and  huge  amounts  of  driftwood.

 Used  coffee  wood  and  some  good  old  driftwood  large  enough  for  the  tank

 The  plants  to  be  used  sorted  out.

 Hardscaping  and  planting  done,  filled  in  the  water

 The  tank  in  a  couple  of  hours  of  setup

 Added  some  blue  LEDs  for  "moonlight"  lighting,  will  also  help  bring  out  the  blues  on  the  Aurantis  Very Happy

 The  tank  after  a  couple  of  days  Smile

 Waiting  till  the  end  of  week  before  I  add  the  aurantis  here  so  that  the  roots  of  the  plants  take  hold.

 Cheers,

 Great  set-up  Hayath!   Clapping   But  are  you  sure  that  even  this  amazing  set-up  is  gonna  work  for  a  couple  of  Aurantis  housed  together  especially  the  size  at  which  they  have  come  in...  One  of  them  is  going  to  dominate  and  have  a  large  chunk  of  food  and  the  weaker  one  will  kind  of  starve  a  little  bit  I  feel..  Nevertheless,  lets  hope  for  the  best!   Thumb Up

 Coming  to  the  tank  again  the  transformation  of  the  tank  is  thrilling  mate!  I  doubt  if  its  the  same  tank  I  saw  3  weeks  back..   Very Happy   "True  Transformation"

 Danke  peeps  Smile

 Looks  quite  bare  as  of  now,  planning  to  add  few  more  Vals  and  Crypts  to  it.

 @Tabrez,
    Hoping  to  get  the  balance  right  this  time,  I'm  ocnfident  to  make  it  work!

 @Natbox,
    The  gravel  is  plain  sieved  gravel  of  3-4mm.  No  PS  done  on  it  other  than  adding  border  Smile

 Havent  really  been  against  plants,  but  have  backed  off  it  only  due  to  the  amount  of  work  and  maintenance  involved  (read  lazy  Razz  )
 Experimenting  with  plants  which  are  super  hardy  and  can  thrive  in  low  light  conditions.

 Thanks  for  all  the  wishes!

 Cheers,

 Welcome  to  the  dark  side.  Instead  of  vals  I  would  recommend  going  for  C  spiralis  is  the  corners.
