I  do  not  think  it's  due  to  lights.

The  locality  in  which  it  is  found  and  the  diet  is  a  factor  for  sure.  Have  seen  specimens  with  base  yellow  to  red  tinges  and  lovely  white  borders  along  all  the  fins.

They  are  fin-nippers/scale  eaters.  Watch  what  you  keep  with  them.

 Cheers,

I  shall  post  the  pics  as  soon  as  possible.

Also  i  have  heard  that  there  is  some  kind  of  lights  which  reflect  back  and  the  fish  shows  the  colour,  but  i  shall  keep  the  diet  good  and  wait  for  the  results  as  told  by  you  hayath_dyno.

 HI  Kshitij,

I  hope  the  fish  is  doing  well.  Use  of  the  fish  net  in  the  tube  opening  while  siphoning  would  help.  I  do  that  always  for  my  inquisitive  barbs.

 Regards

 Hi,

 wow,  I  really  like  glassfish.

To  your  questions.  the  coloured  ones  will  live  shorter  and  any  ways  it  is  a  torture  when  they  get  injections  of  colour.

As  far  as  i  know,  these  fish  look  stunning  when  fresh  caught,  but  tend  to  lose  all  colour  in  the  aquarium.  However,  if  you  keep  them  with  access  to  sunlight,  they  might  colour  up  a  bit,  reddish  or  yellowis  will  be  the  natural  spectrum.

There  seems  to  be  some  confusion  in  the  literature,  many  sources  state  that  they  need  brackish  conditions,  however  this  really  depends  on  where  you  have  caught  them.  I  am  sure  fish  from  cauvery  for  example  will  suffer,  if  salt  is  added  :-)

Now  my  question.  I  have  seen  these  fish  sometimes  in  my  net,  but  always  shyed  away  from  taking  them,  because  I  am  not  sure  if  they  will  eat  dry  foods.  May  I  ask  what  do  you  feed?

 Thanks  in  advance

'injection'  with  colour...  Surprised  .....i  am  happy  keeping  them  like  this  only  ......i  caught  them  from  fresh  water  had  around  three  pairs  but  now  have  only  2  fish  ....gave  the  rest  because  the  males  were  extremely  dominating......also  to  your  question  Gachua1  ....  they  really  don't  eat  anything  except  live  food,  when  i  put  flakes  they  even  won't  see  towards  the  flake  ......they  are  just  interested  in  live  food  .......they  have  finished  all  my  RCS  and  my  black,  orange  shrimps  from  my  tank  ,  thats  what  makes  me  angry  sometimes  .....but  still  happy  to  keep  them   :)

 Hey  Kshitij,

Even  i  got  them  recently....got  4  pairs  out  of  which  1  died  after  2  days....about  3-4  of  them  come  in  front  of  the  tank...rest  all  i  think  are  hiding   Sad

mine  get  a  blue  coloration  as  lining  of  their  fins....

its  been  almost  a  week  they  are  in  my  tank  with  other  similar  sized  tetra  varities  and  never  had  any  issues  of  fin  nipping  or  scale  eating  etc....lets  see.....

take  a  look  at  these  pics  &  notice  the  blue  lining.

'Dominating'  would  be  an  understatement,  they  are  more  like  vicious  bullies.  I  also  put  in  two  males  and  two  females  in  my  90G,  i  introduced  them  in  th  evening  and  by  the  morning  they  had  harassed  2  rasboras  and  5  neons  to  DEATH!  and  all  other  fish  were  hiding  for  their  life.  Only  have  1  female  now  she  is  peaceful,  kept  it  because  it  is  soo  fascinating  to  watch  her  hunt  small  shrimps  in  the  moss,  never  touches  tetra  bits.      Guns
