Please help me with this.
One of the hobbyist is discontinuing his SW tank. He had this running for about 3-4 years. I had bought all the live rocks form this guy.
Now he has emptied his aquarium and stored the water in Plastic bags.
Would this water be beneficial if I used it it my aquarium. Have heard people use used/old filter pads for biological purposes.
would this water with the bacteria be equally beneficial for me.\?
PS: My aquarium is now doing very fine and am facing no problems wrt water parameters.
this guy supplying me the same had not done a water change for about 8 months. His tank was functioning with no skimmers, filters but had enormous amount of live rocks (part of which I purchased).
Is it advisable to use this water in my main tank?

You're joking right? Good one. if not why, pray tell us, why would you ever want to use used water which is now in plastic bags and on it's way to stagnation? Your friend deserves the marine equivalent of the filmfare awards simply for coming up with the idea. You're doing everything right except researching and reading about this hobby.

Well I just had doubts.
There is still lots of water in his aquarium ( he had a 6 ft x 2ft x 3 ft aquarium).
I wasn't planning to replace all. Just thought that about 5-10 litres in my 300 ltr tank could be used if and only if it has any beneficial effects wrt the bacteria.
This is the best research space as all practical experiences come to fore. Hence this query before action( and subsequent reaction).
My question seems to be already answered..
