 Hi  Friends,

I  want  to  buy  this  type  of  hose  (  as  shown  in  the  below  pic  )  for  DIY'ing  a  Filter,  but  I  cant  find  it  anywhere.

 http://www.simondoherty.com/aquarium/New%20Aquarium%20Setup%20and%20Log_html_m717ca476.jpg

I  know  that  it  is  sometimes  available  in  electrical  shops  but  I  find  that  that  quality  is  not  suitable  for  using  with  water  (  as  it  seems  very  fragile  )  Just  wanted  to  request  you  friends  to  kindly  guide  me  if  ┬ásuch  hoses  are  avaiable  anywhere.  I  guess  they're  called  "Kink-Proof"  hoses  and  are  commonly  available  in  other  countries.

Please  guide  /  help  me  find  it...
 Thanks  and  ┬áRegards
 Kush

 Hi  Friends,

Thanks  a  lot  for  the  kind  replies  and  for  caring.

Yes,  I  found  these  in  the  stores  selling  Cables  etc  but  they  told  me  that  the  quality  is  not  suitable  for  use  with  water  (  as  it  may  crack  /  split  anytime  when  water  is  continously  flowing  thru  it  )  I  also  found  that  the  dont  have  any  connectors  /  couplers  for  these.

I  need  it  to  connect  a  pump  (  inside  the  tank  )  to  a  top  filter  (  placed  on  the  hood  )  and  I  cant  use  a  normal  hose,  as  it  has  to  run  from  the  pump's  outlet,  cross  the  4"  bracing,  run  to  the  back  of  the  tank  and  then  raise  above  the  hood  and  again  bend  down  to  the  top  filter's  spray  bar.  The  normal  hose  can  not  be  bent  at  such  tight  corners...

Kindly  guide  me  if  there  is  any  other  way  to  make  these  connections  -  should  I  use  the  normal  rigid  PVC  pipes  and  the  necessary  'L'  connectors  then  ?

 Kindly  advice...
 Thanks  and  Regards
 Kush

 HI  Kush

I  use  the  same  electrical  pipe  as  an  extension  for  my  top  filter  and  it  has  been  running  for  the  last  8  months  atleast  without  any  problems  ,  of  course  there  are  a  few  varying  qualities  that  you  can  buy  ,  hence  buy  the  one  with  the  best  quality  and  you  should  be  OK.

 Regards

 Hi  Bijay,

Thanks  a  lot  for  caring  and  for  the  kind  reply.  Wow,  that  is  great  then  -  I  guess  I  can  use  these  electrical  pipes.  Just  wanted  to  request  you  to  kindly  guide  me  on  how  do  you  use  the  pipe  in  your  setup  -  a  few  details  like  how  you  connect  this  Pipe  with  the  Pump,  Spray  bar  etc  will  be  a  great  help.  Do  you  heat  this  pipe  to  connect  it  to  others  etc  ?

 Kindly  guide  me...
 Thanks  and  Regards

 hi,
u  can  buy  it  from  any  electrical  shop  it's  called  flexible  PVC  pipe,

if  you  want  a  better  quality  ones,  you  can  buy  from  hardware  shop,  it  will  be  a  standard  size,  you  can  ask  as  wash  basin  drain  pipe,
in  my  knowledge/experience,  it's  good  to  use  the  hardware  ones  because  the  electrical  ones  tend  to  split  lengthwise  where  they  are  moulded,  if  bent  very  much,

 Hi  Kush

I  actually  made  my  own  top  filter  and  hence  had  to  improvise  with  the  tubing  .
I  tried  a  lot  of  connectors  and  used  a  lot  of  the  bits  and  pieces  from  my  canisters  that  i  hadn't  or  wasn't  using  to  connect  the  tubing  .  I  used  two  different  sizes  and  just  press  fitted  one  inside  the  other  and  no  i  didn't  heat  any  tubes  ,  don't  know  if  they  will  hold  up  under  heat.
One  more  things  to  watch  out  for  is  to  test  the  tubing  for  leaks  before  the  final  assembly  under  pressure  or  I  have  seen  tiny  holes  able  to  spray  water  clear  across  the  room.  Very Happy
