 Hello  Folks,

Aquatika  is  the  annual  celebration  of  IAH.  It's  a  wonderful  opportunity  for  IAHians  to  meet  each  other.  Aquatika  is  being  conducted  regularly  without  break,  since  the  time  IAH  was  founded  in  2004,  either  in  Chennai  or  in  Bangalore.  With  the  view  to  broad  base  our  activities,  we  are  looking  forward  to  Aquatika  in  some  other  city  /  center.  We  invite  IAHians  from  other  centers  other  than  Chennai  and  Bangalore  to  consider  hosting  Aquatika  2010.

Please  keep  in  mind  the  following  points.

  • Aquatika  is  annual  celebration  of  IAH  &  it's  members.

  • The  main  Aim  &  Objective  is  to  promote  fellowship  among  members.

  • To  be  held  on  the  last  Sunday  of  June.  In  2010,  the  date  will  be  June  27,  2010.

  • The  current  format  being  followed  is,  a  9  am  to  6  pm  day  event,  with  video  show,  expert  speakers,  etc.

  • Sufficient  time  for  fellowship  to  be  allowed.

  • No  profit  /  no  loss  event.

  • To  be  conducted  by  IAHians,  for  IAHians.

  • No  Alignment  /  Affiliation  to  any  other  organisation.

  • No  need  to  compare  or  compete  with  any  past  Aquatika.

How  to  start  working  for  Aquatika  ?

  • Get  6+  members  &  form  a  committee

  • Debate  on  hosting  Aquatika  2010.

  • Estimate  number  of  attendees

    • List  one:  Members  in  your  town  &  nearby  areas  who  will  attend

    • List  Two:  Aquatika  junkies   Smile  :  Usual  suspects  who  will  attended  Aquatika.

    • List  Three  :  Members  from  far  off  places,  who's  name  is  not  in  list  One  or  Two.

    • List  Four  :  Others  -  Non  members.

    • Total  up  all  four  lists  &  divide  by  3.  That's  the  number  you  start  working  with.  Take  that  as  the  number  of  attendees.

  • Check  for  suitable  venue.

  • Check  venue  &  food  costs

  • Workout  fees/tariff  per  person.

By  now  you  will  know  if  it's  possible  to  conduct  Aquatika  in  your  town  or  not.  Please  be  rest  assured  that  you  will  get  all  the  help  you  need,  other  than  financial  help,  to  organise  &  run  the  event.  If  you  need  any  help,  just  ask.

 Hello  Nilesh,

Funding  is  from  subscription  collected  from  the  attendees  &  stall  charges  collected.  Sometimes,  when  there  is  still  a  deficit,  we  conduct  auctions  &  sales  of  various  donated  items  till  we  break  even.  Aquatika  2008  at  Chennai  almost  broke  even.  Most  earlier  once  were  funded  by  organisers  to  some  extent.

 Hi  Ravi
I  like  to  organize  Aquatika  2010  in  Delhi.  But  June  is  the  hotest  month  in  this  region.

I  will  second  rajeev.  If  we  get  the  oppertunity,  we  can  arrange  2010  Aquatica  here  in  Delhi  NCR  region.  And  We  know,  seniors  like  you  are  always  there  to  share  your  past  organising  experience.

Tirtha,  I  am  100%  agree  with  u.  It  is  not  difficult  to  organize  this  meet  in  Delhi  NCR  area.  But  u  should  play  the  role  of  leader  and  side  by  side  i  will  stand  behind  you.  Central  Delhi  near  ITO  will  be  the  good  venue  for  this  type  of  meet.  Communicate  the  authorities  to  organize   Aquatika  2010  in  Delhi  NCR  area.

Delhi  can  be  done.  Tirtha  can  help  you  as  much  as  possible.  My  only  problem  is  I  travel  during  May  June...but  whatever  can  be  done  during  the  2  months  leading  upto  the  event  (without  the  physical  presence)  I  will  do.  And  ofcourse  will  try  my  best  to  b  back  before  27th.

If  we  need  a  venue,  we  can  block  the  conference  Halls  at  India  Habitat  Centre  New  Delhi,  this  I  can  do  right  away...This  is  centrally  located  and  is  close  to  the  Airport  as  well  as  the  Railway  Station.

Is  there  any  past  records  of  number  of  attendees  (  average)  this  will  help  us  to  block  the  Halls  ?

Excluding  our  last  Aquatika,  we  had  numbers  ranging  from  40  to  110  roughly.

 Indian  Habitat  Center,  Delhi
 APEE  Center,  Gurgaon

Both  can  be  very  good  venue  for  Aquatika.

 Dear  Friends,

It  takes  quite  a  bit  of  planning  and  organizing  to  conduct  the  event.   We  in  Chennai  start  the  planning  for  the  event  sometime  in  the  beginning  of  March.

 1.        Venue  &  Food  (negotiate  hard  on  this.   You  may  get  a  excellent  price)
 2.        Speakers  for  the  event
 3.        Videos  for  the  event
 4.        Gifts  for  the  speakers
 5.        Kit  Bag  for  the  participants  (T-Shirts,  caps  or  any  other  Gift,  Scribbling  Pads,  Pens  etc)
 6.        Previous  day  fellowship  (mostly  sponsored  by  the  organizers)
 7.        Accommodation  for  Participants  (different  venues  with  prices  -  Negotiate  hard  on  the  prices)
 8.        Visit  to  fellow  IAHians  houses  for  seeing  their  setups
 9.        Pre  or  Post  Tour  options  if  possible  (Delhi  is  a  wonderful  place  and  lots  of  places  to  visit  and  see.   Near  by  places  like  Agra,  Fathepur  Sikri  and  stuff).   If  possible  work  out  a  good  deal  for  people  who  want  to  see  those  places  also.

Form  a  committee  for  each  of  these  and  ensure  periodical  follow-ups  on  the  same.

In  fact,  if  you  are  planning  Delhi,  would  suggest  a  resort  in  Surajkund  as  one  of  the  venues.   Lovely  place  and  lots  of  affordable  resorts  and  their  prices  are  also  pretty  reasonable.   Top  of  my  mind,  can  think  of  Hermitage  Huts  and  Sunbird.   Just  a  thought.

All  the  best  and  you  can  expect  full  co-operation  from  the  previous  organizers  of  the  event.   Madan,  Trevor,  Adip,  Ravi,  Beta  and  Venket  know  quiet  a  lot  in  getting  this  event  organized.
