 DEAR  ALL
JUST  BOUGHT  A  EHIEM  2217.I  WANT  TO  START  A  4  FEET  PLANTED  TANK  SOON.  BUT  NOW  MY  3  FT  X  15in  x  18  in  tank  where  i  am  using  this  2217  seems  to  be  too  strong  waterflow  to  handle.  i  was  thinking  closing  all  four  valves  slightly  to  reduce  the  flow  .  will  this  have  any  adverse  effect  on  the  filter  ?
       all  advice  welcome.
       thanks
       ame

 Dear  Ame,
You  could  direct  the  spray  bar  onto  the  glass.  I  too  faced  the  problem  when  I  placed  the  spray  bar  at  the  surface  to  enhance  oxygen  dissolution  in  my  3ft  tank.  The  turbulance  was  a  little  too  much  for  my  plants.  Hope  this  solves  your  problem.
 regards,
 ganesh  Smile

If  you  block  the  outlet  valves  then  it  could  create  a  back  pressure  on  the  filter  which  is  not  good  on  long  run.
I  tried  the  same  on  my  internal  power  filter  and  the  filter  conked  off  within  2  months  of  operation.
Ideally  the  output  area  should  not  be  reduced  but  it  should  be  distributed  such  that  the  turbulence  is  reduced.
 As  ganesh  said,
directing  the  spray  bar  on  to  glass  could  help.

Pull  out  the  spray  bar.  Use  only  the  tube.  Point  it  towards  a  glass.  This  will  surely  help.

 Hi,

Had  my  first  Eheim  purchase  today.  Preferred  2215  for  my  90  Gallon  BB  discus  tank.  Discus  seemed  stressed  due  to  spraybar  water  flow.  Then  removed  spraybar  as  suggested  by  Nitin  &  kept  outlet  tube  half-dipped  into  water.  This  worked  fine  and  discus  seemed  comfortable  then  enjoying  crystal  clear  water.

I  do  80-90%  WC  everyday  for  my  discus  tank.  Height  of  this  tank  is  about  23  inches  and  due  to  short  length  of  Suction  Pipe  managed  only  about  50%  WC  upto  Suction  Cup  level.  Can  this  Suction  Pipe  be  extended  in  order  to  facilitate  more  WC?  If  yes,  is  extension  available  with  Eheim  spares?

 Thanks.

This  is  a  problem  with  Eheim  2215  or  2213  and  deep  tanks.  There  is  no  extension  available,  what  you  make  will  look  ugly.

I  have  the  same  problem  with  my  planted  tanks.

 Madan,

Any  other  model  with  longer  Suction  Pipe?  If  yes,  can  we  attach  the  same  to  Inlet  Pipe?  Guess  this  might  solve  the  problem.  Or  else,  can  spraybar    be  used  by  blocking  all  the  holes?
