 Hi  All,

I've  just  setup  a  planted  tank  2  weeks  back,  have  introduced  a  pair  of  otocinclus  for  algae  control.
Was  thinking  of  adding  few  red  cherry  shrimps  (carrying  eggs)  from  my  another  RCS  only  tank.
Will  otocinclus  go  after  them  or  shrimplets?  Lot  of  stem  bushes  are  there  but  the  carpet  and  moss  will  take  sometime  to  grow  to  provide  RCS  perfect  hideout  places.
Is  it  advisable  to  introduce  them  with  otocinclus?

 Thanks!

donot  worry  ....otos  are  very  peaceful  fish.  I  have  both  of  them  (otos  and  RCS)  without  any  issues.

No  Saurav,  as  our  friend  confirms  above  Otos  are  peaceful.  I  have  loads  of  RCS  and  a  few  otos  in  my  tank.  However,  they  are  schooling  fish  and  would  prefer  to  have  a  few  more  of  their  own  species.

@Saurav,  ottos  are  no  threat  to  RCS  -  Just  wanted  to  add  my  vote  too  Wink  Like  Shreyas  said,  they  need  to  be  kept  in  a  group  and  make  sure  your  drip  acclimatize  them  for  best  results.

Put  the  fish  along  with  the  water  it  came  with  in  a  small  5ltr  bucket.  Let  an  airline  tube  run  from  your  tank  into  the  bucket  and  let  water  from  the  tank  drip  into  the  bucket  at  about  1-2  drops  a  second.  You  can  either  tie  a  knot  in  the  tube  to  control  the  rate  or  use  a  valve  thats  used  with  the  airline  tubes.  Let  this  go  for  about  4-6  hours.  Then  just  net  your  ottos  into  the  tank.  I  did  this  all  my  ottos  were  doing  great,  till  a  CO2  overdose  killed  them   Sad

Thanks  Vignesh  as  always  for  the  rescue.  I'm  planning  to  keep  4,  thats  ok  for  their  group?
Well,  i  have  DIY  CO2,  so  dont  think  overdose  will  be  a  factor  in  my  tank   Smile

Hey  Sourav,  good  to  see  that  your  planted  tank  is  coming  up  well.  Did  you  do  the  same  laterite  /  power  sand  combo.  I  have  6  ottos  in  the  tank  with  CRS,  no  threat  absolutely..

hey  Mahesh,  yep  same  combo  but  without  aquabase.  Stems  are  catching  up  really  well,  only  dwarf  hairgrass  carpet  is  taking  time,  they  are  growing  vertically  but  not  many  runners  as  of  now.  Its  just  been  11  days,  lets  see.

When  are  you  posting  update  pics?  Will  try  to  catch  up  with  you  on  this  weekend.

I  have  recently  added  more  lighting  and  planted  tenullus  and  dwarf  hairgrass.  The  setup  is  doing  very  well  and  the  growth  has  been  good.  No  algae  issues,  completely  clean  and  neat  after  the  ottos..  :-)

Sure  thing,  give  me  a  call  when  you  want  to  come  down.
