 Hello  all,

 Tank  setup.
 Capacity  -  10  gallons
 Lighting  -  36W  +  11W  +  11W  =  58W  PLL
 CO2  -  Excel
Fertilizers  -  Micro  nutrients  +  Chelated  fe  (As  recommended  on  the  bottle)
KNO3  and  K2SO4  as  per  Chuck  gadd  calc.
 WC   -  50%  Weekly
Substrate  -  Laterite  +  River  Sand

Glosso  is  growing  well.  No  algae  issues.  Also  have  Pigmy  chain  sword  which  is  doing  great  with  no  deficiency.  Have  also  increased  IRON  dosing  but  the  problem  still  persist.  Also  increased  the  dosing  with  no  help.

If  someone  can  pin  point  the  exact  cause  will  be  helpful.

Sorry  for  the  late  reply.  Not  sure  what  are  there  inside  those  local  trace  mix.  Better  to  go  for  some  tried  and  tested  stuffs.

I  am  confident  about  the  those  fertilizers  as  i  have  used  them  for  about  4-5  months  in  other  setup  too  without  any  problem,  but  this  problem  never  came  in  those  setups.

What  I  strongly  feel  is  that  things  are  getting  out  of  balance.

Too  much  light  and  dosing  and  I  really  doubt,  excel  flourish  can  provide  sufficient  carbon  for  very  high  light  tanks.  Usually  excel  is  seen  being  used  for  low  maintenance  tanks.

 Swapnil

Is  this  a  recurring  problem  ?  If  yes  then  check  if  the  excel  drops  are  directly  coming  in  contact  with  leaves  or  not.  Premix  and  dilute  the  excel  with  water  and  then  dose.

If  no  then  do  not  bother,  your  glosso  is  growing  well.

 Regards

Not  recurring  but  this  is  the  1st  time  I  encountered  this  problem  in  past  2  -  3  months  after  the  setup  and  this  problem  started  some  2  weeks  back  and  increasing.  Initially  it  was  very  less.  Glosso  carpet  is  some  40%  of  the  total  area  and  out  of  this  total  carpet  some  5-10%  has  turned  white  and  dead.

Check  Excel  dosing.  Also  check  substrate  condition.

I  have  started  pressurized  CO2  and  stopped  excel.

Do  you  mean  to  check  the  nutrient  value  of  substrate?
