 Ali,

AFAIK  we  don't  have  any  authorized  Service  Centers  for  Eheim  in  Mumbai.
Indus  Marketing  (Pune)  nearby  are  only  the  distributors  of  Eheim  range  products.

However,  you  can  try  get  in  touch  with  Kishorbhai  from  Kurla,  maybe  he  can  help  you  out  (helped  me  with  reduced  flow  of  2215  few  years  back).
 Fish-O-Fish  Aquarium
594,  Mirza  Irani  Building,  Pipe  Road,  Above  Ram  Mahal  Hotel,  1st  Floor,  Kurla  West,  Mumbai  400070
 Phone:  2652  3200
 Mobile:  98201  26983

PS:  Kishorbhai's  shop  is  the  best  place  to  procure  Eheim/Hikari  or  other  branded  products  in  Mumbai.  You  will  always  get  these  dry  goods  at  wholesale  rate  from  him  than  any  other  expensive  options.  He  is  soon  launching  another  shop  at  Kurla  East.

 Thanks  yogesh,

I  was  counting  on  you  to  post  some  info  on  this  thread   Smile

 Will  visit  Kishorbhai  tomorrow.

But  still,  since  my  filter  is  in  the  warranty  period,  how  do  i  excercise  the  warranty?  There  should  be  some  service  centre  somewhere  where  I  can  get  my  filter  repaired.  Maybe  somewhere  else  in  India?

If  filter  is  under  warranty,  It  would  be  advisable  to  contact  the  shop  from  where  you  got  the  filter  from.  It  is  seller's  responsibility  to  get  it  serviced  under  warranty  period.

What's  the  issue  with  your  filter?

Keep  this  thread  updated  with  the  progress,  will  help  fellow  hobbyists  in  future  about  the  warranty  exercising  process.
Always  been  curious  about  warranty  thing  with  Eheim  as  all  mine  are  still  running  well  over  warranty  period  for  years  without  any  issue  so  far  (touchwood!!).
Some  people  here  are  running  Eheims  for  over  a  decade  without  any  issue.

Ok,  Sorry  for  the  late  update  on  this.  The  conking  of  my  laptop  and  the  interim  period  without  an  internet  connection  helped  me  forget  about  this  post  completely.  Here  is  what  really  happened  to  my  filter  that  day.  Came  to  know  of  the  same  a  day  later.

My  dad  did  a  20%  water  change  without  my  knowledge  (once  in  a  blue  moon  mood  based  water  change).  He  shut  off  the  filter  before  doing  the  water  change,  but  started  it  a  bit  to  soon,  i.e.  before  the  water  level  reached  the  intake.  The  result,  air  was  sucked  into  the  input.  Even  after  the  water  level  reached  the  top,  the  filter  was  on,  just  trying  to  pump  air.  Dad  did  not  notice,  hence  did  not  prime  it.  It  was  on  like  that  for  maybe  around  3  hours.

I  came  in  and  found  my  filter  on,  but  motor  not  working.  The  impeller  was  kinda  heated  up.  I  immediately  shut  it  off.  Questioned  my  mom,  but  she  had  no  clue.  Dad  wasnt  at  home,  and  never  had  expected  an  ad-hoc  water  change  from  him.  Waited  for  a  few  hours  and  tried  switching  on  the  filter  after  priming  it.  The  motor  was  dead  as  before.  Started  panicing  about  the  bacteria  kill-off  etc.  Did  a  water  change  to  ensure  no  spike  in  Nitrates/Nitrites.  Decided  to  get  the  filter  fixed  as  soon  as  possible.  Posted  on  IAH.  Decided  to  act  in  accordance  with  the  response  received.

The  next  day,  I  decided  to  just  give  the  filter  a  shot  before  dismantling  it  for  repair.  And  whrooom!  the  filter  starts  as  if  nothing  had  happened.  Pumping  water  with  the  same  enthusiasum  as  before.  Put  my  hand  in  front  of  the  output,  but  the  force  seemed  to  be  the  same  as  before.

Later  in  the  day,  when  I  narrated  the  incident  to  my  dad,  he  told  me  his  side  of  the  story.  I  put  two  and  two  together  and  figured  out  what  happened.

What  son  of  a  gun  filter  is  this?  After  being  abused  like  this,  it  decides  to  take  a  day  off  and  return  back  to  work  as  if  nothing  happened!!  Logic  tells  me  that  the  impeller  would  be  compromised  by  this  incident.  But  it  seems  to  be  pumping  water  with  the  same  force!!  What  are  these  eheim  filters  made  of!!

Does  anyone  ever  need  to  use  this  warranty?  Looks  like  this  will  continue  to  be  a  mystery  for  us.

Eheim  service  in  India  is  proving  to  be  a  problem.  I  had  some  nosie  issues  with  my  new  2217  .  The  local  retailer  pointed  me  to  Indus  marketing  and  they  in  turn  promised  to  make  the  retailer  do  the  service  !  Needless  to  say,  this  did  not  happen.  Fortunately  with  the  help  of  a  forum  moderator  (Thanks  Prem  !)  I  managed  to  sort
out  the  noise  problem.  (It  also  helps  if  you  keep  50-100  gm  weight  on  top  of  a  2217.  The  plastic
does  not  seem  to  be  braced  enough  and  vibrates  a  tiny  bit)

Plan  to  complain  to  Eheim  Asia  about  their  poor  service  support  in  India.

But  it  seems  to  me  someone   should  do  a  deal  with  them  on  setting  up  a  service  center  (no  sales  just  service)  !
Won't  make  too  much  money  out  of  this  but  getting  paid  to  fix  filters  should  be  fun  !  Come  to  think  of
it  a  good  aquarium  equipment  service  centre  may  not  be  a  bad  idea.

If  you  are  new  to  Eheim,  it  is  recommended  to  get  your  first  setup  with  the  help  of  experienced  Eheim  user.  Understand  the  basics  like  placement  of  filter,  fixing  accessories,  priming  etc.  and  properly  installed  Eheim  will  not  require  any  kind  of  troubleshooting,  serving  you  the  best  performance  all  the  time.

Warranty  exercising  is  bound  to  remain  mystery  for  us,  questioning  do  we  actually  need  service  center  for  Eheim?   Smile
