 Hi  Everyone

I  have  rescaped  my  planted  setup   2  weeks  back.  My  last  attempt  which  was  my  first  in  the  planted  aquarium  was  coming  along  fine  till  I  had  to  go  abroad  on  an  assignment.  On  my  return,  the  tank  did  not  turn  out  as  I  had  visioned  and  hence  decided  to  redo  the  entire  setup.  This  time  my  wife  took  it  upon  herself  to  do  the  setting  and  scaping  and  has  promised  to  keep  maintaining  and  improving  it  in  my  absence,  in  future.  Given  below  are  the  details.

Tank  :  Boyu   enclosed  tank  with  molded  glass.  Size  100  cms  x  40  cms  x  40  cms.  Capacity  without  substrate  160  litres.

Lights:  4  nos  T5HO  with  reflector.  Have  also  fitted  2  CPL  of  23  watts  each  on  either  side.  Total  wattage  is  142.  Lighting  period  is   10  am  to  2  pm  and  4.30  pm  to  9.30  pm.  The  lights  and  CO2  system  are  on  timer,  getting  on  and  off  at  the  same  time.

Substrate:  River  sand  with  additional  fertilisers  of  OCEAN  FREE.

CO2  :  Pressurized  system  with  solenoid  valve.  CO2  injection  at  1  bps  through  an  Azoo  diffuser  during  the  light  period  only.(  9  hrs)

Filteration:  Cannister  filter.  Dolphin  C-1600.  On   for  24  hrs.

Water  change  (aquaguard  water)  –  25%  every  week.

Cooling  :  Two   4  inches  AC  fans.  One  on  supply  mode  and  the  other  on  exhaust  mode.  Temp  maintained  between  27-28C  throughout.

Dosing:  Presently  using  only  ready  made  liquid  fertilizers.

 Plants  :  Aponogeton  Boivinianus
                     Aponogeton  Madagascariensis
                     Echinodorous  Tenellus
                     Echinodorous  Grisebachii
                     Elatine  Triandra
                     Glossostigma
                     Hemianthus  Cuba
                     Lilaeopsis  Brasilieness
                     Dwarf  Sagittaria
                     Heteranthera  Zosteraefolia
                     Crinum  Calamistratum
                     Cabomba  Caroliniana
                     Bacopa  Monnieri
                     Cryptocoryne  wendtii
                     Anubias  Barferi  (on  driftwood)
                     Anubias  nana      (on  driftwood)
                     Tonina  fluviatilis
                     Java  Fern
                     Java  Moss  (  on  driftwood)
                     Nupar  Japonica
                     Red  lily  (medium)

There  are  another  8  plants  the  name  of  which  I  do  not  know.  I  am  aware  that  I  have  used  many  plants  in  my  small  tank  but  that  is  how  my  boss  wants  it  and  so  be  it.

Have  used  driftwood   and  coconut  shells  for  Java  moss  and   HC.  Never  checked  the  water  parameters  with  test  kits  so  far.

 Fishes:  Cardinal  tetras  –  11
                     Rummynose  tetras  –  10
                     Phantom  tetras  –  4
                     Male  guppies  –  4
                     Galaxy  rasbora  –  6
                     Red  cherry  shrimps  -  12
                   Ottocinclus  -  4

The  tank  has  been  set  up   two  weeks  back  and  I  see  a  good  growth  in  nearly  all  the  plants.  Some  plants  need  trimming  every  2-3  days.  The  balance  in  the  tank  is  well  maintained  and  the   fishes/shrimps  are  all  doing  well.  Pearling  takes  place  in  good  quantities.  No  algae  problem.  The  fishes  are  fed  only  tetra  mini  granules.

Please  pass  on  your  comments  and  let  me  know  if  I  am  doing  anything  wrong.  As  you  see  this  is  my  second  attempt  at  keeping  an  planted  aquarium.

 Thanks  and  regards.
