 Thanks  Beta
Can  you  give  me  some  link  for  getting  more  information.  Information  seems  to  be  very  sketchy  for  this  fish.
All  I  could  get  that  it  is  a  native  fish   Very Happy
Ever  since  I  started  distributing  jewel  fry,  my  house  has  become  a  popular  destination  for  kids,  along  with  harressed  parents  (who  are  being  forced  to  buy  aquariums).
This  fish  is  a  gift  from  one  such  delighted  kid.  It  was  a  pair  but  one  died  soon  after.
They  are  also  describing  another  fish  with  yellow  &  white  spots  ??

wow,  actually,  it's  news  to  me  that  it  is  an  Indian  native.  Fantastic  :-)
I  guess  keeping  and  breeding  should  be  somewhat  similar  to  other  Aphanius  ssp.
Males  will  be  very  aggressive  towards  other  males.  Spawning  would  happen  in  a  wool  mop,  or  fine  plants  or  peat  moss.  I  also  guess  that  these  guys  will  be  difficult  to  maintain  on  dried  foods,  but  they  should  feed  on  algae  and  life  foods.

That  is  as  much  as  I  can  remember  from  some  other  Aphanius,  hope  it  helps  and  hope  it  is  correct  for  this  species.  I  think  A.  dispar  is  considered  threatened  in  some  countries  (Saudi  Arabia),  not  sure  about  India  though.

I  hope  you  are  planning  to  breed  them  :-)

 Regards

There  was  a  discussion  sometime  back  on  this.

Unfortunately  I  do  not  have  any  experience  keeping  them.

 Awesome  stuff!

Have  been   drooling  over  this  for  some  time.  Known  to  occur  in  India  only  in  Gujarat.

You  probably  found  it  closer  to  home  because  of  the  govt.  initiative  to  introduce  this  species  in  various  areas  to  combat  the  mosquito  menace.

Gambusia  male  defenitely,  looks  similar  to  local  guppies  but  hangs  at  the  surface  alot  ,  so  better
 mosquito  killer  than  guppies

That  true  beta.  it  is  being  introduced  for  mosquito  control  by  gujarat  govt.
It  seems  that  it  is  better  adopted  to  high  salinity  levels,  and  hence  survives  longer  in  kutch  region  of  the  state.
