If you feel the fishes are stressed, you can have the air-pump switched on during night,
I generally have co2 running during night too.. becase it is too difficult to adjust the co2 flow and bubble count every day..
FYI I donot switched on air-pump during night, but still fishes seem to have got accustomed..

I also donot switch off the CO2 at night although since I have 2 medium size Orandas I do switch on an airstone at midnight which gets switched off at 6 am. However, these days I am feeling that the airstone may not be required as there is good pearling and now I will slowly reduce the timing of the airstone and see what's the outcome.

Under ideal conditions, the DO content in a Planted Tank will be 120%...But,with big fishes/more bio-load, it tends to get exhausted soon...watch and see, if the fishes are gasping at the surface; as you reduce the aeration time...
