 1.  As  a  former  "noob"  to  this  forum  who  had  this  debate  (about  quoting  prices)  with  the  mods  for  the  12031934th  time,  l  strongly  recommend  all  the  new  users  here  to  not  to  waste  their  time  with  this  debate  again  and  just  search  the  forum  for  the  reasons  why  the  mods  don't  allow  quoting  prices  on  this  forum.  Discussing  prices  is  allowed  over  personal  messages  (PM).  Please  do  so.

 2.  How  preferable  is  Tetrabits  over  "natural"  food  like  blood  worms  and  shrimps  and  occasionally  a  few  (quarantined)  insects?  Does  Tetrabits  contain  any  hormones  or  anything  to  artificially  enhance  the  fish  color?  (I  don't  know,  I'm  just  asking..)

 Cheers,
 Sid

 Hi  Folks,

In  Kolkata  currently  the  Tetrabits  is  not  upto  mark.  What  I  want  to  say  is  the  food  which  is  shipping  now  in  kolkata  is  not  the  same  quality  as  before.  Sometime  after  break  the  sil  we  found  a  full  of  junk  like  a  piece  of  rock.  Also  sometime  after  dropping  the  Tetrabits  in  water,  the  water  colour  become  redish  which  I  never  seen  before.

Tetrabits  specially  made  for  Red  color  fish  and  it  really  enhance  the  colour.  But  currently  I  am  avoiding  Tetrabit  due  to  above  reason.

I  don't  know  about  Mumbai,  Bangalore  or  Hyderabad  and  other  city  of  our  country.

Anybody  can  put  some  light  on  this  !!

 Hi  Abhi,

Have  also  heard  about  these  duplicate  Tetrabits  tins  floating  in  the  market,  so  beware  of  it  while  buying.
Genuine  TB  granules  will  never  disintegrate  or  foul  the  water.

So  Trial  &  Error  is  your  resort.  But  it  will  teach  you  not  to  go  for  same  seller  again.  Chuckle
Maybe  Abhida  can  post  sticker  picture  of  his  cloned  Tetrabits  tin.

I  bought  Tetrabits  recently  (yeah  it  is  expensive)  and  am  feeding  my  fishes  along  with  flakes.  However,  what  I  notice  is  that  the  bits  falls  down  into  the  gravel.  Now,  the  substrate  I  have  is  small  size  white  pebbles.  These  tetrabits  usually  end  up  under  the  substrate  and  it  is  becoming  difficult  for  my  fishes  to  reach  them.  Most  of  the  food  end  up  wasted.  Is  there  any  solution  to  this?  Is  there  a  feeder  or  something  which  can  be  used?

 Thanks
 Regards
 Sukhesh

Changing  the  substrate  is  the  best  idea.

Or  else  go  for  floating  flakes.  The  nutritional  value  here  is  questionable.

 Nayak.

Shucks  man!  The  last  tetrabits  can  that  I  brought  from  crawford  is  making  my  water  red!  My  friend  called  me  when  he  was  there  and  told  me  it  was  available  for  50  bucks  lesser  than  the  market  price.  Maybe  getting  cans  cheaper  than  the  market  price  also  is  a  indicator  towards  getting  the  wrong  stuff.

Ill  compare  my  current  can  with  the  older  one  and  see  if  there  are  any  other  differences  in  the  packing,  which  can  tell  us  a  good  one  from  a  bad  one,  without  having  to  buy  it  first.  If  anyone  else  finds  something  similar,  please  post  of  the  same.  Will  help  us  from  not  getting  duped.

Well  cause  kolkata  is  flooded  with  Duplicates  and  those  shopkeepers  accross  india  who  buy  their  materials  from  kolkata  are  victim  to  this.  I  have  seen  a  couple  of  these  cans  identical  duplicate  boxes,  however  for  the  last  10  -  12  months  the  lot  numbers  on  these  boxes  are  the  same.  So  if  any  of  you  come  across  a  duplicate  box  simply  note  down  the  lot  number.  Next  time  you  go  to  buy  look  at  the  box  and  if  you  find  the  same  lot  number  dont  buy.

Lastly  get  it  from  genuine  dealers.  Pricing  is  something  i  wont  debate  about.  But  its  not  necessary  that  if  you  are  getting  it  cheap  its  fake.  Every  dealer  has  a  buying  capcity  and  depending  on  that  rates  can  be  negotiated.  Plus  every  dealer  has  a  selling  strategy,  some  sell  it  expensive  but  to  a  select  clientel,  some  sell  it  on  lesser  margins  but  believe  in  volume  sales.  Both  are  good  in  their  trade.

 Warm  Regards

Why  only  Tetrabits  ?  Fakes  have  been  doing  the  rounds  supplied  from  Chennai  for  5-6  years.

 Now  read  this:

Trevor  fed  his  E  canarensis  Azoo  pellet  food  and  now  he  has  red  E  canarensis  !

the  lot  number,  as  suggested  that  we  look  for  by  Nash,  is  different.
