Do  let  me  know  when  i  can  drop  by  buddy  ..  Smile

Cant  say  stunning,  as  it  was  a  very  sparse  tank,  but  you  are  welcome,  just  give  me  a  call  and  drop  in  anytime.

no  matter  how  good  a  pic  hamza  posts  it  wont  do  justice  to  the  tank  until  its  looked  at  personally,  you  have  to  see  it  personally  to  get  the  feel,
a  lovely  tank  buddy   Thumb Up

Very  true  mate,  am  bad  at  taking  FTS  Sad,  still  learning...  and  anyone  can  visit  me  to  check  the  tank,  you  are  most  welcome.

what  is  the  fish  in  the  third  pick  ?  is  it  a  native  species?  i  picked  a  few  which  look  similar  to  the  ones  in  your  pic,  near  ennore  port  in  chennai.

But  great  presentation  and  a  greater  tank...  congrats  buddy..all  the  best  Smile

 Thanks  mate!
 The  fishes  are  Oryzias  dancena.

I  plan  to  have  these  in  every  future  aquascape.  They  are  amazing  algae  eaters.  Unlike  mollies,  no  matter  you  feed  them  with  prepared  foods  or  not,  they  still  constantly  nibble  algae.

Very  nice  Hamza.  Please  let  me  know  how  you  manage  to  keep  it  Algae  free.  Did  you  collect  the  drift  wood??

Impressive  display.  Please  give  a  full  tank  shot

 Sandeep

Buddy,  like  all  tanks,  this  setup  went  through  its  algae  phase.  And  had  almost  every  kind  of  algae  you  can  imagine.

As  the  tank  matured  the  algae  phased  out.
And  the  credit  also  goes  to  oryzias,  rainbow  shrimps,  CAE  and  a  garra(yes  garra).  They  all  constantly  nibble  minor  algae  formation.
Even  I  spent  som  good  time  patiently  manually  removing  as  much  algae  as  I  can.

I  dint  used  any  chemicals  nor  any  of  the  renouned  algae  eaters(like  ottos,  amano  shrimps),  you  can  see  the  results.

Thank  you  all,  am  searching  all  the  old  pics  and  compressng  them  for  web,  will  start  posting  the  journal  shortly...

 Stay  tuned...

So  to  begin  with,  here  is  the  hardscape  material...

I  dropped  out  a  couple  of  branches  from  these  which  dint  suited  the  scape.
Got  these  from  Khaleel,  who  collected  them  about  50km  from  Hyderabad  I  guess.

Some  mock-up  trials  done  on  the  terrace  Chuckle

 Dint  like  any  of  these...

Did  one  more,  that  I  finalized  on,  I  am  missing  the  picture....
Anyway  here  is  the  scape  plan  sketched  based  on  it...

I  dint  get  the  tank  then,  so  these  dimensions  on  the  sketch  are  wrong.

The  stand  I  ordered  was  built  2"  shorter,  so  I  had  to  compromise  on  tank  size.

@Anand  -  Yes  you  can,  but  for  a  short  time.
I  get  CAEs  as  small  as  possible  1-2"  and  give  them  away  once  they  touch  3".  After  that  they  get  terrirorial  and  dont  eat  algae  as  much.

So  I  got  a  couple  of  pictures  from  the  day  two,  18th  March  2010..

 The  whole  setup.

 And  upclose

 The  specifications...

 Tank  dimensions  -  28x16x16"

Volume  -  A  little  over  90L  with  substrate  and  decor.

 Lights  -
 Initially  3x18w(T8s)
Then  it  was  increased  to  5x18w(T8s)+15wCFL(105w)
 Now  reduced  to  4x18w+15wCFL(87w)

 Filtration  -  None(until  recently)
 Now,  DIY  canister  filter

 Dosing  -
 KNO3,  KH2PO4  for  macros
 CSM-B  for  micros

These  are  dosed  dry  every  alternate  day.

 CO2  -  Pressurized  2-3bps  24x7,  initially  it  was  4bps.

Substrate  -  Cocopeat+Humus+laterite  in  1:1:5  ratio,  all  topped  with  1-2cm  coarse  sand

Plants  and  fishes  as  on  the  page  one.
Added  a  few  white  cloud  minnows  recently.

i  also  had  two  types  of  shrimp  from  the  same  place  in  ennore.  One  burried  itself  under  the  sand  and  the  other  species  roamed  around  as  such.  the  second  species  ate  all  the  hair  algae  in  my  tank  then  went  for  the  moss  and  vals  in  the  tank  .  But  very  excellent  hair  algae  eaters  i  must  say.  they  just  shaved  the  algae  off  from  my  tank.  Not  sure  about  the  species  but  from  postings  by  various  gurus  here,  i  think  its  a  cardina  species  with  big  pincers.
